The GOP's Real Agenda
Listened to Dennis Kucinicich (sp) this morning.....the "gnome from N.E.Ohio" and he seems pretty worried about our $16 T. debt.......more so than the president.

Do you think Dennis is inching towards the GOP ?? We can use the lawn decor !!

Rob Portman, who was close to being Mitt Romneys running mate has had to do an ABOUT FACE on gay marriage, just before "mother jones" was to OUT both his sons for being gay.

Portman describes his change of mind on gay marriage like this..
Rob Portman, Gay Marriage, and Selfishness -- Daily Intelligencer

But political reality tells us differently. This was a purely selfish move on Portmans part. Attempting to turn a political nightmare into a social embracing.

After being completely anti gay his whole political career, despite knowing his sons were gay, he only changes his mind when those dirty little secrets were about to be made public. Portman then attempts to jump ahead of the curve can cut off the controversy by changing his mind and now openly accepting gay marriage.

Is this the "NEW" republican party?

Are gays now a part of the republican lifestyle?

What a selfish act.

So typical of cons these days. When it is nameless, faceless, gay (evil to them) people, it is ok to ban marriage equality. But WAIT now it affects him and HIS FAMILY, now he sees the light. It seems conservatives do not have the gene for empathy. If it is not about them or someone they actually know or love, they cant empathize with those people or that cause. Quite sad and typical!!

You know it's all about the word "marriage" . People are alright with everything being equal....just call it by a different name. That's been the point along....same rights, different name. For years I've been pushing the term "fusion'. Most gays want all the rights.....OK, you got it ,dude!! You also get to have the divorce lawyers too.,.....and child support.

Around me, the guy couples jump in and out of long term relationships....like over 10 years....and continue on their merry way to the next conquest......it involves no divorce, no lawyer, etc. I only know guy couples......

"turnout-suppressing voter ID laws"? LMAO

You've got to show ID to buy a pack of smokes, but to elect the leader of the free world, to as for the same requirement is racist and a tactic of the GOP to stop blacks from voting.

Voting more than once, yes.

You have a RIGHT to vote, not a right to smoke. People actually get turned away because they dont have the 'appropriate" id that certain people deem necessary. In some states a gun license is ok but a student id in that state is not?? Talk about arbitrary and capricious. Make it harder for some and easier for others. In some states elderly black folk who have voted for decades who dont have a drivers license are denied their right to vote because some rt wing legislature passed a law to prevent "voter fraud" (a nonexisting problem) which requires forms of id they do not possess!! If you dont see how this is a way of shrinking the electorate you are blind.

A gun license is a governent issued ID, whereas a school ID is issued by a learning institution which is the difference. A Private college ID is NOT a government issued document. Do a search for the name Melowese Richardson and then repeat your statement about it being a "non issue". Also, realize she is not the ONLY person to do that

These "elderly black folk" of whom you speak, why don't they have SOME sort of legal Identification? You don't need a driver's license, just a photo ID issued from your state of residence. As far as I know ALL states will issue you a card which looks JUST like a license but will have the words "Identification Card" written on them instead. How you could be an elderly person and have made it all your life without ANY form of ID? Have you never opened a bank account, or tried to cash a check, or rented an apartment? All of these things would require you to present a photo ID

Piture ID doesn't have to be Driver's license. Quit making up excuses....they have to have picture ID to fly, you are not complaining about elderly black folks not being able to fly.........

Again, dealing with a "problem" that DOESNT EXIST. We should be making it easier for folks to vote (like making it a national holiday or moving it to the weekend) NOT HARDER!! Unless your party is afraid of democracy in action.

I agree with that. Also what's with the obsession about doing it all on one day? They could make it a national Holiday on the 1st Monday in November and have the polls open the preceding weekend so people would have 3 days to vote.

How do you know who the elderly black folk were going to cast their vote for, or are you assuming, because of their race, that their vote would automatically go to Obama?
It's your "non-existing" problems that admitted to casting multiple votes; is that not fraud?

They can vote on Wizard of Oz or MLK day....I don't care, but they gotta have a picture ID.....period. That's the only fair way to do it.

One vote for one person and that's all.

Thats NOT what it is all about , moreluck. Republicans "claim" homosexuality is a "choice", and ROB PORTMAN said the same thing for MANY YEARS in his political career.

In his statement however, PORTMAN now claims his son(s) were BORN that way, and knew they were gay as long as they can remember.

That conflicts with both the GOP talking points and the extreme religious right and also includes the phoney christians (wink).

For decades now, the GOP continues to hide "their" gays and those that enter the political arena say whatever is popular to the masses until it affects them at home.

Everyone of them pretends to be committed to god and the bible, yet, runs away from it when "outed".

All PORTMAN showed, was that his committment to GOD was a lie, and that he puts his sons interests in front of that of "his" lord.

Hypocrites.

Plain and simple.

Watch out Island, you may have to like Homosexuals after all, your party is leading the way.

I think republicans and democrats deserve each other. Now if they would just destroy one another the rest of us could have the real chance of maybe enjoying a nice life!
