Given the Trump gang's record of ignoring subpoenas a warrant was likely considered to have been their only remaining option. Leave the investigating up to the people who follow the letter of the law and are fully versed on the tricks of Rudy Giuliani. And as bad as he and you and Tex try to make Hunter Biden part of this narrowly focused criminal investigation , it's not going to happen. Sometime in the future he made become a suspect or person of interest during the course of an expanded or separate investigation but for the time being it would appear that it will continue to be focused on the named individuals.

He could have given them every electronic device in the house right down to the main disconnect but only that evidence which a federal grand jury believes rises to the level of an indictment and will be deemed admissible by the presiding jury will be admitted to court. And I seriously doubt that evidence that is tied to a person who has not been named in either the warrant or the indictment is going to make it past the grand jury.

The FBI has had Hunter's laptop for some time and haven't done anything with it. Taking Rudy's copy would raise questions as to why nothing is being done with it.
