Up here, no. You can call in for a family member but then they hit you with a sick day and take a pb.

What do you mean, they hit you with a sick day and take a PB? They take two days?
It matters, if you live in a state or city with certain sick time laws that explicitly say that sick days can be used for that then yes. Your other choice is FMLA, with the new rules from fdx they will burn your sick/Vaca days for that, but it is protected leave and cannot harm your employment.
But the again, you could just call in sick and say nothing more. All you gotta do is call and say I need to take a sick day.

We still have reviews up here so the sick day goes against your review and they take away a pb.

For 1 day...yes, just say you're sick and won't be in. After 2 days you need to provide a doctors note. You can use FMLA, but you won't be paid.

Actually now when we use FMLA we are "paid", they'll take all your vacations first (except one week)

I actually looked that one up in Policy Manual. It says management CAN ask for documentation. Up to their discretion.
