So What If...

What can they plan for if the jobs just aren't there?
I don’t think UBI is the answer. In times of massive unemployment and people losing their houses by the thousands per day was going on, the government stepped in raised tariffs and introduce massive entitlements.

It prolonged economic recovery and job creation by 7-8years by some economists estimates.

I don’t think the answer is massive government take overs or handouts. I think that will just knee cap the economy and drag the whole country into the mess.

So there's insufficient work, no government assistance, spikes in crime, and massive political unrest. What a wonderful future we all have in store because the powers that be want to get even richer.

That’s why I fall back on free markets. Get ahead of it. Deregulate, lower tariffs, cut taxes, slash entitlements. Do everything you can to create a thriving economy and economic growth. Create jobs and give people a reason to invest your country. Make America the hub of global trade and production.

You sit there and praise the job creation and phony unemployment numbers(people on welfare and living off social security are unemployed) but you have no faith without the federal government involved dividing and handing out wealth that hasn’t even been created yet for a problem we haven’t been hit with yet.

How in the hell would UBI even be funded with "tens of millions" suddenly not working to support the massive welfare state?

They think they can tax robots X%, without another country saying hey come produce here for X-20% or 0%.

It’s the dumbest short sighted :censored2: I’ve seen come out of the left in a long time.

Big Tech, Big Education are actively working with corporations to make this happen. Democrats are the party most aligned with Big Tech and Big Education while Republicans actively support corporate interests. They're all in this together. You say get out in front of this then tell me not to worry about problems that haven't even happened yet. Yep, I'm saying the powers that be are selling us down the river and we need to start voting for people who will protect working class Americans. And I might as well spit at a hurricane. So let's sit back and enjoy the show and I hope I die before they take Social Security away.

I don’t preach free markets to be a hard ass and hurt people that are poor.

I say those things because I think it’s the best bet for creating a better world. Does it have its fault and will people need assistance. Yes.

Do we need the federal government playing that role? No.

I’ve said it before, the United States has 50 laboratories, we don’t need to run the Marxist theory on all 50.

Who's talking Marxism? I'm talking assistance for those millions displaced by companies seeking higher profits and they have no where else to turn because the jobs have been eliminated. At that point companies have made capitalism the enemy and spawn desires for a replacement.

You’re literally railing against free markets decrying the evils of “capitalism” in favor of socialist redistribution of wealth to the working class and poor, or plundering the bourgeois for the sake of the proletariat.

Nope, I'm saying the very capitalists who are supposed to make it possible for anyone who applies themselves to succeed are about to screw over a large percentage of the population in search of even more profit. This will lead to a backlash and destabilizing the country. Supporting capitalism doesn't mean allowing them to do anything they like in the name of profits. The economic system is supposed to benefit all citizens, not the privileged few.

The technology will replace workers. Highly doubtful there will be an equal amount of more sophisticated jobs.
If technology, AI, robotics, etc., replaces workers on any massive scale, without any alternative for them to become wage earners, the world economy will come to a grinding halt. Without customers circulating currency, soon commerce ceases. Money will no longer have value. Barter and trade will become the new(old) system of exchange. Socialism will prevail.

We pretty much have a two tiered system of haves and have nots now. I think they're making a calculation that the quality of life for the upper half will be sufficient enough to support the economy and be even more profitable without supporting the lower half. This is the way of the world for much of the world now, only the percentage of haves is even smaller. And they've been trying to suppress income for decades now by allowing in tens of millions of illegals.

If there are tens of millions displaced by new technology in the next decade or so, what do we do then?
You worry too much. If you are that shook up about it learn a trade. There will ALWAYS be a demand for electricians, plumbers , carpenters, etc.
