This last general meeting, Stewards were asked to sign a paper that stated our duties as a steward. Since when has the oath we took in front of all members at the general meeting not good enough?

Always told not to sign anything from the company, unless the state requires it. Just found it odd that the union would take this stance. Was also told "failure to sign means you aren't willing to abide by what is in print" which is beyond untrue. What are the differences between the oath and what you were asked to sign? Is there anything on the form that you feel should not fall under the duties of being a steward?
What oath? Was there anything in there that was contrary to either your oath or your duties as a steward?
What oath?
We never took an oath. Ever.
I guess I am presuming he's talking about the one when you become a Teamster member at your local meeting. None of us took an oath.Ask the OP----he was the one who said he took an oath.
You actually have stewards training or workshops? This last general meeting, Stewards were asked to sign a paper that stated our duties as a steward. Since when has the oath we took in front of all members at the general meeting not good enough?
I never took an oath. I'd like to know what all it entails thoughI guess I am presuming he's talking about the one when you become a Teamster member at your local meeting. None of us took an oath.
Some of the BAs need to sign a paper stating they know what their duties are and that they'll honestly do them.I never took an oath. I'd like to know what all it entails though
I can't say that I would necessarily think it's a bad thing though...This last general meeting, Stewards were asked to sign a paper that stated our duties as a steward. Since when has the oath we took in front of all members at the general meeting not good enough?
Have you looked at your bylaws. Stewards should take an oath but signing something is a little odd. This last general meeting, Stewards were asked to sign a paper that stated our duties as a steward. Since when has the oath we took in front of all members at the general meeting not good enough?

I'd have no problem with that! I fight for me and my members rights. Maybe if they did that in my local it would weed out the sell outs ...You take an oath and say you won't bring reproach upon any member. Yata yata yata

Remember you have to take baby steps at the beginning. Longevity will give your local more respect.I'd have no problem with that! I fight for me and my members rights. Maybe if they did that in my local it would weed out the sell outs ...
