My Local never had porters. Always a contracted outside agency. Consider yourself lucky.

One year, the Labor guy asked my suggestions on helping create more 22.3 jobs. They were

having trouble trying to get people to bid on POS 22.3 combos. I suggested porter.


He just laughed and laughed....

Was a solid suggestion on your part. Admittedly before I became a Porter I was one of the guys mocking them who thought the position was doing nothing all day and told guys "I'll put on a maids outfit and come clean for $45 an hour".
But trust me in that once doing it there is plenty to do all day long to keep yourself busy.

When the part timers clock out and the brown trucks leave believe me the place is an absolute frigging mess with garbage all over the place and various equipment left in total disarray. Takes a good amount of work to get the place back to normal.
As a driver you just simply don't focus on it until it's your job to clean it.

If that’s who they’re targeting, I believe the next contract will be very, very contentious if not history making one way or another.

A small percentage wouldn’t. The very young starters. Probably a few on here. I would have had four more years for retiree healthcare when I had 30 in.

I wonder when the people working around the CEO will see the writing on the wall. Look what she did to Home Depot. A CEO who gives away large bulk volume then worries about the stock price, then tries to unload employees to keep her mega salary growing.

I'm for more retirement security and benefits over a "Show me the money" contract again. Sure we make a killing on profits, are yield is good, but other companies don't pay dividends and are doing quite well.

Maybe we can get a CEO who actually worked for UPS.

The problem with UPS is not Carol it's numbers they created for mgmt to make bonus. Get rid of their artifact bonus, work will be better. And it's coming

Ups should have never went to Saturday driving and then decided to go along with the union in making 22.4s full time, then decided to get rid of their Amazon pieces, serious of dumb moves by ups corporate
