Teamster Buyout?

Pretty sure they’re trying to make this job as miserable as possible so that we take this buy out.

But the jokes on them, this job has been miserable for years and I’m used to it!😂
They intentionally made our lives miserable. Now they are stuck with us. Remember when we were essential? Remember when they didn’t put in for our hazard pay? It was 96k now they are offering way less.

I personally gave my all. I promoted the company and did everything I could.

They treated me like a whooping boy. I don’t even care anymore. Guess what… I still promote the business because I have integrity and remember what I signed up for.

The customer is king. The customer pays the bills and the customer is the reason why we have a job

I always promoted the company as well, the other one that is.
My daily motto out there with the customers for 25-30 years was simply..... "Go FedEx or don't go at all".

I still think in a center of any size, might be a driver or two that takes it that no one expects. One thing i have learned over the years is we work with a lot of unique personalities.

So if you work beside another driver and you both are at top rate, what would you do if the company decided to start paying the other driver ten dollars more per hour? Obviously this is hypothetical but I think you might understand what I'm talking about...
That's the unanswered question. Where in our current labor agreement does it grant the company the right to pay extra money to selective employees only?

What strain will the accelerated retirements have on pension funds? Even a few years can make a big difference, especially when downsizing current employee's.

Does this buyout violate the added jobs agreement, or does it void it? Cannot be both.

Once you allow holes in the barrel, it's hard to stop the leaking.

I’m not sure why anyone would think a buyout would void an agreement?

If these people take the buyout, it’s clear they do not want to work here anymore either they’re retiring or starting a different career. They could’ve done that without a buyout.

And the company would still be on the hook to create and fill these jobs.

I guess the real question is are they trying to say that these jobs that are vacated are part of the number of jobs they’re filling. I suspect that’s part of the company plan.

Selective union members only? The union is ok with this? What other rights can we give away?
Clearly, the union is not OK with it. The obvious question is what can they do about it? File grievances, labor board charges. Etc. etc..
Whatever the outcome is, we won’t know for many months and those people will be long gone.

and people can't expect any help from the union if they later find out they got screwed

Seems to me, offering the buyout to drivers only is discriminatory.

There is no buyout language in the contract. Any buyout has to be negotiated.

Says who? The company is very good at this.

Clearly, the Teamsters do not agree. But the company is doing it anyway.

When you come out very bold like O’Brien did and call it illegal and then look powerless to stop it it makes you look weak and Ineffective.

Probably would’ve been best to say we’re going to fight this from every angle but it will take time.

Weren’t they paying part timers a bonus for showing up a few years ago during peak?
What’s the difference?

There is no difference to company enters into all kinds of agreements and get away with it.

My local filed a grievance on that and we lost

Maybe the negotiating team should’ve worked on strengthening article 6?

They also get the p/ters pizza once a week. THAT is an extra contractual bonus.
Someone said they gave drivers gift cards for working Saturdays. Extra contractual bonus.
Your center ever have a cookout? Mine has. Extra contractual bonus.
The Union should have said something then.

ALSO, I clearly remember in past contracts the Union saying anything negotiated is a MINIMUM. The company is welcome to pay more.
What happened to that?
