chomsky says its up for debate but its the impending invasion of the russians which convinced japanese war hawks to surrender.

howard zinn says it was a great myth that we saved lives dropping hte nukes. says japanese were about to surrender. he says if your in favor of ending hte war more quickly by killing 100,000s of japanese, would you likewise be in favor of killing 100,000s of americans to end the war more quickly? the answer is no.

paul jay and gar alperovitz believe most historians agree the nukes were unnecessary.
Conjecture.

chomsky says US govt had mixed views on facism before the war.

US business community and parts of labour bureacracy in america were supportive of mussolini. FDR was as well calling him an "admirable italian gentleman" and saying he got led astray teaming up with hitler. 1937 the US state dept called hitler a "moderate". 1938 US govt still willing to work with hitler.

we live in a controlled society. most things are BS and a way of controlling us. i was listening to a libertarian vs marxist debate, and the libertarian is talking about how public education is tyrannical, pyramid like, top down, but he fails to make same connection with capitalism.

It doesn’t have to be but as the scale of a business increases, so does the need to centralize and control.
