Texas school shooting

If the cops heard the shots that would seem to me at least, they could have prevented some deaths. What’s 1-2 children worth? We don’t know for sure if he killed them at once or over time. I agree, if he started shooting immediately it was over in seconds. I don’t know if we’ll ever know the truth.
At least the police are safe.

9 mm or .45 pistol isn’t to bad indoors. It’s loud, but with your adrenaline goin’ it’s the last thing you notice. I have fired handguns indoors, no hearing protection. The muzzle blast is minimal.
I think we are discussing a .223 rifle though correct?
That would be pretty loud and disorienting, especially to a child.
Children were already dead when others were calling 911. That's been reported numerous times.
this could of been what led to police thinking it was now a hostage situation and they didn’t want to put more children at risk or charge a doorway for a prepared gunman.
I don’t know I just find it hard to believe this was just racism or cowardice or whatever else bs people are throwing at people who didn’t wake up that morning wanting people to die, unlike the person who is truly deserving blame and our ire.

I use my 9 for all self defense purposes, my rifle was mainly a speculation buy in case they do outlaw them similar to automatics with tax stamps or whatever, also a fun little range toy occasionally if someone wants to go shooting.

I'm not for defunding the police. But maybe ANTIFA, BLM etc are right and we shouldn't expect anything from them. It's not their job to protect and serve. So go ahead and defund the police, turn off 911 and fend for ourselves.

I don't know why racism is even mentioned. Both the police and children are mostly Hispanic. It's a majority Hispanic town. It's sad these days if victims aren't white that people believe there's a racial component to the effort made. As if the kids had all been white they would've tried harder.

Officers get killed all the time trying to defend others from evil doers. As the defunders found out when they greatly reduced funding and police retired or quit in droves, it's a whole different ballgame when the police aren't there when you need them.

The thing to take away and what I’m stressing is even a minute unchallenged in a school much less a classroom is far too late for a proper response.
Defend the :censored2:ing schools.

Extremely loud round, very difficult to suppress.

40% of Uvalde's budget went to the police. Uvalde is a red town in a red state. But somehow the libs/ANTIFA/BLM got them to defund the police and made them weak?

You brought Antifa and BLM into it. I just pointed out the efforts made to defund the police nationwide pretty much blew up in their faces so ending the police in Uvalde isn't the answer. Unless I'm reading you wrong you seem to be very anti police.

Efforts to defund the police went nowhere nationwide. Only a buzz word on right wing media.

Fact is when the specialists arrived they went in. The local police waited for them. As children were being shot some children were calling 911. I was told the police didn't have shields but video shows they clearly did. They may not have been able to save them all but if they had acted quickly they may have saved most. When the killer started shooting kids he would have been distracted enough for them to open the door and shoot him. Even if they had failed miserably they should've tried. Can't be faulted for trying everything possible. And Fred this isn't "attacking the blue." I suspect a lot of police departments would have made every effort possible, not hang back while kids are being murdered.
Last 'information' I read was that the classroom door, once properly shut and locked, was nearly impenetrable without extraordinary means (explosives), and that the custodian with a key to the door could not be located. If these are accurate details, there may not have been that many options.

Yeah, Bruce Willis has aphasia. No hero to overcome all the odds.
The point wasn’t there should of been a hero.
The point is people who haven’t seen extreme levels of violence do not realize how fast it happens. Minutes might as well be hours when it comes to a gunman with a rifle in a classroom.

There is no proper response once a gunman has had even a minute or two with their victims alone. You have to kill them before they get started, you have to turn schools into hard targets.
Rifle or handgun it doesn’t matter.

According to the Texas DPS, the door was unlocked.

This isn’t a failure of police in my eyes. It’s a failure of society for allowing situations like this to escalate to the point polices only option is to rush a choke point being guarded by a little psychopath with a rifle.
The law enforcement who shot this kid were very brave men, they sustained injuries doing so and could of easily been killed if this wasn’t just some 18 year old loser with a rifle all schizo’d out.
