democracy now had a segment where the guest suggested the MSM is spending too much time covering supposed russian influence and not the other things which influence elections like black voter suppression for example.

The elites “have no credibility left:” An interview with journalist Chris Hedges

David North:
How do you interpret the fixation on Russia and the entire interpretation of the election within the framework of Putin’s manipulation?

Chris Hedges: It’s as ridiculous as Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. It is an absolutely unproven allegation that is used to perpetuate a very frightening accusation—critics of corporate capitalism and imperialism are foreign agents for Russia.

I have no doubt that the Russians invested time, energy and money into attempting to influence events in the United States in ways that would serve their interests, in the same way that we have done and do in Russia and all sorts of other countries throughout the world. So I’m not saying there was no influence, or an attempt to influence events.

But the whole idea that the Russians swung the election to Trump is absurd. It’s really premised on the unproven claim that Russia gave the Podesta emails to WikiLeaks, and the release of these emails turned tens, or hundreds of thousands, of Clinton supporters towards Trump. This doesn’t make any sense. Either that, or, according to the director of national intelligence, RT America, where I have a show, got everyone to vote for the Green Party.

This obsession with Russia is a tactic used by the ruling elite, and in particular the Democratic Party, to avoid facing a very unpleasant reality: that their unpopularity is the outcome of their policies of deindustrialization and the assault against working men and women and poor people of color.

Yes, because Republicans are soooooo the champions of ideals and policies that support blue collar workers, minorities and women. Give me a :censored2:ing break.

As far as Russia goes, I'm good with letting Robert Mueller's investigation decide what's what. Everybody place your bets now.

It will be fine

Thanks for more Russian propaganda. How do you post this garbage and claim it isn't Russian propaganda? Are you completely incapable of independent thought?

Russia didn't get anyone elected. The electorate is hopelessly divided and really not yet in the mood for solutions to differences.

What the collusion claim did, and what Trump's idiotic firing of Comey did was to intensify unwanted but legitimate focus on a billionaire's financial dealings with a foreign geo-political adversary.

They got the most votes. The question with Russia is how much they helped influence our collective impression of the candidates and the issues. It's a worthwhile look to see how they engaged in informational warfare against the US populace. I don't care about re-litigating the election, it happened.

well i dont know about the other media russia did, but if you watched russia today you probably wouldnt have voted for either of these 2 crooks.

off the top of my head i know thom hartmann, chris hedges, lee camp, maybe max keiser, probably mike papantonio would have all been against donald trump and clinton.

do you know who else was engaged in informational warfare? msnbc, cnn, fox, abc, etc. they are owned by the rich and they benefit from having you vote for clowns like trump and clinton.

anyways, the media is only part of the problem of the american election system. russia has gotten way more coverage than it deserves.

Well it would then be incumbent upon the opposition party to make that case and up to the public to determine how much it mattered.
