Missing or illegible. Words have meaning
In the program clerks use E2DC, that is what the entry is. "Missing or illegible label." Clerks do not have the ability to change the wording or enter anything other than the predetermined choices.

My guess is, as I've seen it a thousand times, that the handwritten international waybill was impossible to read. People just don't push hard enough when writing the address. It has to go through 5 copies. Based on tracking, it appears as though they sorted out the illegible address while package was still in China.

I tracked your package at UPS.com. Shows you are in Redwood City. I'm in NorCal too, so I know the air sequence here. Obviously heading to Ontario is not an option. If it is US Customs holding up your package, UPS cannot do much about it. I've seen them hold it as long as a week. If it's not customs, Ontario is the air hub for the west coast. Perhaps they're still having trouble reading the label to sort it to Oakland airport. If so, I'd call 1-800-Pick-UPS and let them know your package had an illegible address issue, and give them the correct address. As a clerk, sometimes all you can do is input it in the system as "missing/illegible label" and hope the customer contacts UPS to supply an address.

I'd be able to track it better at the UPS building, but I'm retired now and have no access.

If this is not appropriate for this forum, I sincerely apologize.

I had found an older thread, since locked, with a similar issue and some helpful responses. I'm hoping that someone here can provide some more detail to my issue than the customer reps I've spoken to on the phone have.

I have a shipment, a high-end laptop from Dell (Alienware) that I need to run some newer 3D software that my older system can't handle. I purchased expedited service from Dell and got a delivery date of July 11th. Order was completed and landed in US on the 9th and hit the UPS hub in Ontario California around 9:30pm on the 10th. It's been through an arrival scan, import scan and has now sat in the warehouse for two days. Late last night the scheduled delivery changed from end of day July 11th to "unavailable" and I've been told there is a Customs clearance issue. I've already taken a day off of work and burned 8 hours of annual leave to wait. I accept this as I can't do a signature authorization release for this package.

Does anybody have any insight on what this Customs issue may be and if I need to contact Dell to have them help resolve the hold?
