We've had yard and bldg. access by card only for at least 5 yrs.

We've had the new time clock for about 4 months. Just sitting there with a note on it saying "Don't touch this" or, something. Supposedly, we start touching it on the 30th. They want us to practice using it now.

I've never seen a sta. where you needed to gain access to the parking lot or, building with your badge.

Of course, this "system" will go down eventually like all FedEx's "systems".

We will still use our power pads as our time cards.

Our checkout guy said he wasn't giving out any time cards because start time had been changed. We all should have but a few people grabbed a blank piece of paper and clocked in anyway. Checkout guy was mad at those who did, as if it was coming out of his check.
That was tried on one guy at our station, and he told the gatekeeper that his scheduled time was NOW, and he either got a time card, or he was going home and not coming back until the next day. He got a timecard. And a pissed off manager.

Same here but I see this changing soon. We have one employee at our sta who will show up 5-10 minutes late but punch in on time. Management knows about it since a few other employees are constantly pointing it out to management but they haven't been able to catch said employee yet or aren't willing to, depending on who you talk to.

The new ID scan time clocks will not allow punch in at just any time you want. 5 mins before scheduled start time as is the case now. You will get a 'invalid entry error' if you try to punch early. A manager is in charge of entering the employees start time in the system. We were told these times can be updated for schedule changes (earlier start) for meetings or training. So they could also go in and update for LATER start times on these 'weather' days.

That's got to be it. Frees the company up to force hourlies into standby without compensation. Systematic. I would not be surprised if the time adjustments could be made on Memphis giving local management plausible deniability.
