When you thought ORION hit Rock Bottom...

Its so embarrassing. But whatever. Easy money.
I mean technology evolves, I’m sure it will get better. I know where we are the old DIADs were gonna turn into bricks soon so that had to roll out the Six. But let’s just say I filed 9.5 for every driver on the list in my building last week and leave it at that! 🤣

We've all seen this screen come up now and again I imagine. Had it pop up the last 2 days as I am heading to my next to last pickup...a pickup I have made for the last 17 years.

We just went diad 6 two weeks ago. Seems that every stop now has delivery window until 2359.. so oddball businesses and schools in mostly resi areas in the back nine of my 100 mile day would always be missed if I followed ORION. I do it my way... it’s usually more time and miles than ORION but I mean, I make service!

I get the idea of just rolling your eyes, saying “ok , if that’s what you want”. But I can’t screw my customers over that’s where the money comes from. And I take a certain amount of joy in coming up with my own solution that actually works. Plus my solution that works pays me more than their solution that would friend over my customers.
The official guidance in our building is that "It's your job as a professional driver to make service on business customers before 17:00" (regardless of what EDD looks like).

Idk what's going on in other people's buildings and tbh it's not my problem.

Wait till the rookies forget to deliver the stop they prerecorded. When they get back to the building and try to figure out how to punch out and hide the package they forgot.
1.) Scan package while walking to porch.
2.) Hit PreRecord.
3.) Scan package again.
4.) Stop complete as normal.
5.) Void prerecorded scan at end of day.

Who would prerecord a stop they haven't delivered yet lol?

I've fat-fingered the prerecord button by accident so many times I can't count. I used to have a center manager who would get bent out of shape over it like I was doing it on purpose. He also told me we "move with a sense of urgency and don't sit around drinking coffee at every stop." I think of him every time I take a sip.

Yes, I know I'm working late.

#5 is what will hang up the rookies. Carry on. And I have a suspicion you don't drink coffee without cake batter or cookie dough added to it.

I shoot for 0% trace. I just run the route the best way possible so I can go home. Even if it means running it totally stop for stop backwards to what the DIAD says. I actually push for 0% trace. It's a fun game to me. I come in 25-40 miles under each day. I asked management if I should follow ORION. They were like no no no. You're doing great.
This will only get you more work, more stops…pickups out of area, it’s a learning curve. Someone else will be using Orion and taking that hour lunch and you’ll be doing his schools when they let out.
