Work injury... should i get a lawyer?

Hi all, I work in the warehouse, was helping loading the container.(not my usual bay) The gap between the trailer and loading bay, the support was broken(can't be seen cos there's a black rubber cover on top). According to my coworkers, people have been telling Sups to fix it but nothing was done.

My feet went in to my knee, wedged so I lost my balance and fell face first hit the steel roller table for the bulky items.

Should I get a lawyer? A union rep lawyer or outside lawyer?
Have a blessed day

What is the extent of your injury and are they denying you w/c benefits?

Did you report it yet?

If not do so ASAP

And yes, always get a work comp lawyer

Every state has specific rules and time limits in regards to reporting injuries

I try not to say the whole story, to remain anonymous as possible. I had something broken on my face. After weeks of light duty, I was told to rest at home till surgeon say I am 100%. I get about 70% pay while resting.

If they are covering your injury with comp then no I doubt you need an attorney....Why?

Always get an attorney. They will try and screw you.

They have dozens of attorneys working against you at all times you would be foolish not to hire one. The law is a lot more complicated than we understand. From the moment you’re brought in and asked questions it’s to set you up to make a wrong answer.

There's no case to win, sounds like they are covering the injury.
There’s always a case to win lol

I had a buddy who hurt his shoulder that didn’t originally get the lawyer. The company was trying to offer him about $3000 for a settlement when it was done.

He got the lawyer in time ended up getting about $15,000 the company was trying to rape him on the settlement by getting him to agree to a lower amount not knowing what his injury was worth

It’s not personal it’s business and my body is my tool. Don’t settle with these guys. They’re not your friends and liberty Mutual definitely is not your friend. I’ve seen it over and over again.

I've had a few work related injuries and only once had to hire an attorney and that was my fault. Once I got past the Doc in a box and actually made it to a real Dr/Surgeon they were always on my side.

Yep, usually the doctor and surgeon know the game and hate the company as well. Unfortunately, liberty mutual drag their feet many times setting up these surgeries for people costing our members thousands of dollars a wasted time. An injury that should only keep a person out two or three months end up being 6 to 8 months.

Well of course hire an attorney if it's such a devastating injury that they want to settle with you and it's career ending or they are denying your coverage.

Every injury has a settlement attached to it in my state. Like I said every state is different. If you don’t know the laws in your state, you need to hire an attorney because the company knows the laws in your state.

I've rarely seen that here and the comp laws in Florida are not on the employees side at all. Usually it doesn't go more than the 30 days of TAW. They don't want you sitting at home making money doing nothing so at that point hey move it along. And while those Doc in a box quacks are on the company side they still will not risk their license or a potential malpractice lawsuit.

Here it's MMI(maximum medical improvement)when you're done with treatment. They pay you for whatever % disability you get, now when you leave, retire they(LM) will want to pay you off to get you off the books, then a lawyer is a good thing. Also here they are required to send you all info regarding your w/c rights and they do.
