Yeah I'm pretty sure my taxes pay for roads, libraries and cops to patrol my neighborhood. I guess living for free with mom and dad has clouded your understanding of what tax money pays for in the US.

Half the drivers walking in look like homeless pukes in ragged brown uniforms. There is no shaving policy anymore. Off a few days? No worries...come on in with your face moss. Dudes with prison tattoos on their necks and "sleeves". No Prob. Chicks missing Dicks? Well, put a cattle ring in your nose, lotsa tat's, a crew cut and a baggy uniform. Walk like a low-land gorrilla and you're in!. No money for DR bags, uniforms, car-wash soap, brushes or friend'n toilet paper and having fuel in your vehicle depends on the day of the week. Frankly, I'm worried about my pension. And its not just Frank. It's Shirley too. Shirley they have have to see this is a sinking ship.

Put as much into your 401K as you can. Do not even rely on your pension to be there when you retire. Even if it is still there it will probably be way too small to provide for much of your retirement needs. My local hasn't increased in over 20 years. Was good money in the 1990's. Now it's only about 30% of my pre-retirement income.

The govt borrowed that money from SS. SS receives several hundred million a year in interest from the govt.

sure and i dont like sales taxes on everything. maybe just sales taxes on relatively expensive things, or things we dont like.

the people with the most money should pay the most taxes. i dont like tolls, parking meters, or tuition.

It's not a sense of entitlement, it's a genuine entitlement. If you contribute to any, ANY retirement plan, you are "entitled" to a return on your investment. You are not necessarily guaranteed that the return will be greater than your investment. How you see a difference between social security, a pension, a 401k, an IRA, etc, I can't explain. The difference I see is as opposed to the others, SS is not optional. If you disagree with the idea of SS not being optional, there is an argument to be made. But that decision was made long before any of us were born.

It's not a sense of entitlement, it's a genuine entitlement. If you contribute to any, ANY retirement plan, you are "entitled" to a return on your investment. You are not necessarily guaranteed that the return will be greater than your investment. How you see a difference between social security, a pension, a 401k, an IRA, etc, I can't explain. The difference I see is as opposed to the others, SS is not optional. If you disagree with the idea of SS not being optional, there is an argument to be made. But that decision was made long before any of us were born.

My 401k money is money I worked for. It’s money that I chose to invest and money that I will withdraw from when I retire.

Social security is not comparable to a 401k.
It’s basically the government taking my money and giving it to old people with the promise they’ll do the same for me. They are covering their past “investors” investments with current investor money. Basically a Ponzi scheme.
