Buffett’s Railroad Among Winners From Keystone Denial

Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC is among U.S. and Canadian railroads that stand to benefit from the Obama administration’s decision to reject TransCanada Corp. (TRP)’s Keystone XL oil pipeline permit. With modest expansion, railroads can handle all new oil produced in western Canada through 2030, according to an analysis of the Keystone proposal by the U.S. State Department.
“Whatever people bring to us, we’re ready to haul,” Krista York-Wooley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern, a unit of Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A), said in an interview. If Keystone XL “doesn’t happen, we’re here to haul.”
“Railroads are not just a stopgap while we wait for a pipeline,” Hatch, an independent railroad analyst in New York said in an interview. “They are potentially part of the long-term solution.”

I wish you would relax on this pipeline--it will be built--Obama is simply playing a political game and is saving this for just before the election.
People who sit back and relax get people like Obama for a president. If he is waiting to capitalize on that decision....does he think Americans won't see through that ploy?

As usual he needs a long vacation before he makes any decisions, and then when his idea is rejected, he does not try to rework it and continue .
So for now his pal Buffet will be shipping the oil south on his railroads, because as everyone knows that is the most enviromental mode of transport.

Doesn't matter if they see through it or not as long as he is able to meld it along with the rest of his narrative.

Are you sure about that ? And also don't forget railroad tracks are also subject to radicals damaging them on purpose.

Faulty track caused derailment, oil spill in Lake Wabamun: TSB
A defective rail caused a CN train to leave the tracks, dumping oil into a popular Alberta lake two years ago, according to the final report by the Transportation Safety Board.
The derailment, which led to an environmental charge against CN, spilled more than 700,000 litres of bunker oil and other chemicals into Lake Wabamun, 50 kilometres west of Edmonton, in August 2005

Looks like Canada is also seeking the Europeans now to sell oil to (at the end of the news video below) .

Another reason why Keystone will be built before an Asian pipeline :

Canadian pipeline needs aboriginal consent: chief

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Enbridge Inc's controversial plan to build a pipeline to the Pacific Coast from oil-rich Alberta requires the consent of aboriginal bands, some of whom staunchly oppose the project, Canada's top native leader said on Wednesday.

The contention underlines the difficulties facing Enbridge as it tries to push through the C$5.5 billion ($5.4 billion) Northern Gateway project, which would cross land belonging to many Indian bands, or first nations, so the oil sands-derived crude could be shipped to Asia and California.

You're right... lets just be at the mercy of all the countries who drill and sell the oil....
Dont be fooled. This pipeline will be an export pipeline to houston where the oil will go to china. On the jobs, even the company itself says that "only a few hundred permanent jobs" are created by keystone. It just continues our unsustainable addiction to oil. And I havent even hit on the environmental impact this dirty tar sands oil will have.

There is no dirty impact ! We simply dig it up and then re-forest !
Google the before and after pics of areas digged up. It's again Mother Nature at it's best, better then before actually.
