Just file and forget about timeframe. The fun part in stacking them up then checks start flooding in.
How long does it generally take to get paid for grievances?

So I filed a grievance for unpaid hours, asking for penalty pay with it. Took them 3 months to take care of it.
Got a check for the owed amount, without penalty included. (about 24hrs penalty vs 8hrs owed.) Filed another grievance for the penalty pay owed. Union looked into it and agreed.
Weeks later I asked where was the penalty check, Union said that UPS told them that they had resolved the issue and closed the case. Steward said that If I wanted a check, I need to ask management for it myself.
Management of course, ignored me. I was never getting paid penalty.
