...As well as the property taxes. My route covers 2 counties, and you can often tell where the county line is on a road by where the pavement ends and the gravel begins. My standard retort to customers who move out to the country and immediately start complaining about the dust I kick up on their gravel road is that they could have bought a house a mile away on the same road and had pavement...for an extra $1000 a year in property taxes. You get what you pay for.....and keeps the property values down....
I used to run all those routes out that way, lotsa Duponts, John Mellon, Jackie Mars, Dielle Flieschmann, etc. Those rich folks just love their dirt roads.You should see some of the mansions on the dirt roads on my route. One of the most expensive counties in the nation.
