Supporters of the sanctuary city policy like Michelle Vazquez from Evanston Township High School said the public schools and universities in the area support illegal immigrants, therefore Evanston should do the same.
The aldermen of Evanston, Illinois , just outside of Chicago , unanimously adopted a policy which will ban local police from being able to share information with federal immigration officials from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, according to Evanston Now.

Walsh said he would open City Hall as a sanctuary and "safe space" to illegal immigrants -- promising to house them in his office -- in the wake of President Trump's executive order to halt federal funding for "sanctuary cities," and said Boston would not accept federal money if it was tied to toeing Trump's line on immigration.
"If people want to live here they'll live here, they can use my office, they can use any office in this building," Walsh said of his promise today to illegal immigrants who are "targeted unjustly," adding "any place they want to use, they can use this building as a safe space."
So Boston must be an official sanctuary city for the mayor , who is up for re-election , to make this declaration. Or he just might want the other story of how 2 of his aides are being charged with racketeering moved off of the top news story of the day .

Illegal immigrant in Milford death ruled incompetent
(MyFoxBoston.com) – The illegal immigrant who was drunk driving when he hit and dragged a Milford man to his death has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.
Judge Janet Kinton-Walker says Nicolas Guaman's "unique cultural background" and language barrier means that he doesn't understand the court process. The court also said that he lacks the ability to consult with his attorney properly.
The judge ordered Guaman's attorney to find an interpreter and educate him on the court process.
Maureen Maloney, Matthew's mother said "In the past, he's had other run-ins with the law. He's been in court multiple times on other charges prior to all this in August 2011 and a Spanish interpreter or no interpreter was used for those hearings and he's always managed just fine."
Funny when caught by police he was able to give a statement .

And his defense was that due to his unique background , he lacked the enzyme to process alcohol .

Seems like common sense to get him an interpreter and educate him on the judicial process. The judge probably just doesn't want the case overturned on appeal. This move could end up saving the tax payers money.
