Providence Passes Ordinance Welcoming Gang Members To Their City

The Providence (RI) City Council voted Thursday to give first passage to the Community Safety Act, a far-reaching ordinance designed to curb profiling by the city’s police but the odd benefits it gives to criminals and specifically gang members has many in law enforcement shaking their head.

The council voted 12-0 to approve the ordinance as hundreds of supporters cheered. Mayor Jorge Elorza has already said he intends to sign it into law.

After reading the details of this ordinance, the only ones that will be cheering in a few months will be the criminals.

While the politicians covered up the terrible provisions in this act by saying that it was simply designed to “curb profiling,” what was really inside it will create one of the most lawless cities this country knows.

The violent crime rate in Providence is already 134% higher than the state average and the passing of this ordinance will be the best thing that Rhode Island criminals have seen in some time.

Developed by activist groups, the Community Safety Act is weighed heavily towards giving benefits to the criminal element. If you don’t believe us, just look at the official logo (above) of the Act. It shows the police at the bottom, which is exactly where the politicians have placed them by passing this ordinance.
Which part of the law do you have a problem with?
  1. Traffic stops can no longer be used as probable cause to investigate further criminal activity.
  2. Police may not ask for identification more than once including “police may not consider an individual’s lack of proof of identification or failure to respond to a request for identifying information as probable cause or reasonable suspicion of criminal activity.”
  3. Police may not photograph anyone below the age of 18 and if a photo (under certain guidelines) is allowed, it must be destroyed in 90 days.
  4. “Police may not inquire about an individual’s immigration status.”
  5. There is an entire appeal process for anyone listed as a gang member to not be listed as a gang member.
  6. “If an individual has no convictions within a two-year period after their name has been placed on the “gang list,” and no new evidence meeting the criteria for inclusion on the “gang list” has been found, the name shall be removed and all related records destroyed.”

A violation of either can result in a fine and/or imprisonment for up to 5 years. If the illegal causes bodily harm to someone and/or places someone’s life in jeopardy, the “person” can be fined and/or imprisoned up to 20 years. If the illegal causes a death? Life imprisonment. This could be the fate of the Brooklyn DA and any others who cooperate while they’re attempting to shield people who are in violation of federal immigration law for “minor crimes”

Trumps EO trying to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities was blocked in the courts. It's not surprising that Trump doesn't understand the law, but he really should have a legal team that looks over the EOs before he signs them.

Trump needs one more to have a trifecta for the Supreme Court.
Chances are that two will be overturned based on the 9th circuit 80% record of being overturned.
It's not surprising that the 9th circuit doesn't understand the law, but they really should have a legal team from the USA that looks over the decisions before they sign them.

Already Federal law as signed by Bill Clinton in 1996. Trump's order was to enforce existing law concerning withholding funds from sanctuary cities who refuse to comply with Federal law. Judge left that out of his ruling, saying executive order caused undue anxiety on those cities. Temporary injunction anyways.

its like a lower level liberal court hissy fit before the supreme court cleans up the mess. the wording of the executive order in question basically requires compliance with existing law. the Obama appointee who made this decision was rewarded with this judgeship by doing a good job of fund raising for Obama's 2012 campaign. If I was president I would refuse to recognize the ruling of these much lower court judges. whats next we going to have some judge who presides over traffic court try to over rule the president

I don't think this injunction has any merit ... it may not even make it through the 9th Circuit but The Supremes will overturn another 9th circuit ruling ... which may go from 86% overturning to 90% plus before Trump is through.

Kennesaw, GA passed a law in 1982 requiring able and qualified head of households to own and maintain a gun and ammunition. Although no one was ever prosecuted for not adhering to the law, the law can be argued to have an effect.

In 1981, the year before the ordinance was adopted, Kennesaw recorded 55 house burglaries. The next year there were 26, and in 1985 only 11.

Sec. 34-21. – Heads of households to maintain firearms.
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

There has not been a rush to attribute the gun law causing a plunge, regardless of the claim in this image.

I kind of don’t like laws that force people to buy things. Looking at you Obamacare.
But it’s a cool little story, with good morals behind it.
