By them, sending him to the clinic it means they have established a case number. No manager can deny medical care to an injured employee.

You’re missing the point you can go to your Dr. but ups isn’t going to pay your Dr when they are already paying a work comp Dr. to look at you. Your insurance won’t pay because they aren’t work comp

In the state that I am as an employee I have the right to go to my own doctor and company is obligated to pay for it. I have never heard and seen a case where company refused to pay to see your own doctor. All you need is name of insurance information, name of adjuster and case number. They may disagree and deny a procedure but that’s what are lawyers for.

Hurt my ankle… it’s super swollen and was told I HAD to go to a McBride clinic by a sup. Today my manager sent me to an urgent care, the dr said it’s sprained put me in a boot and said if your boss thinks it’s safe to deliver then you’re good. It’s throbbing. I call my steward he says let me know what your boss decides. What ?
You’re as good as fired
BYE BYE !!!

Give your local a call, they may have worker comp doc they can refer you to...
Worth the call at least....
Workers comp laws are different state to state, so before you just jump at all the different opinions here check your state laws.

I've heard of situations where comp refused to pay for it because it was an unauthorized examiner and they were already seen once. And Teamcare certainly won't cover a comp injury. So yes, she might have to pay for it herself. Still a good idea though.
To make matters worse they didn’t pay me for the day I sat up there waiting on them to send me to clinic… sat at the clinic all day… went back to hub sat there all day waiting on them to figure something out. Today my time card says “called in” for that day.

Also getting told my 8 hour guarantee goes away for those days and since I’m hurt. Went to the same doc this week for a follow up she said oh it’s not sprained it’s actually fractured I’m sending you to a specialist 🤯

Do t mess with ankle injuries. I did and now I have no lateral support and am looking at a 6 month recovery when I get surgery. And the kicker is surgery won't fully fix it. I could easily roll it again and be right back in the same boat. Chalk it up to my young and dumb days
