UPS® (NYSE: UPS) today announced it is providing transportation support and commitments totaling $400,000 in gifts-in-kind (GIK) for urgent relief items to combat the deadly Ebola outbreak which has claimed the lives of more than 1,500 individuals in West Africa.
“UPS and The UPS Foundation are responding to the World Health Organization’s plea for increased international response,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation.

The UPS Business Monitor™ Export Index Latin America (BMEI), the latest study commissioned by UPS (NYSE: UPS) and conducted by RGX Global Export Network, surveyed the leading small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Latin America, analyzing the segment’s best practices for exporting. The report reveals key factors for success including the importance of partnering with a cross-functional logistics provider, conducting research, leveraging existing incentives and implementing competitive pricing
The eight countries surveyed in the study included Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Peru. The report highlights the following insights used by successful SMEs:
UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced that it has been awarded the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification by the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The certification strengthens UPS’s customs-to-business partnership with authorities, and supports international trade by enhancing supply chain security and improving business processes.

Expanded Facility Will Accommodate Increased Shipping Volume
UPS announced today a $17.5 million expansion of its delivery center in Menifee, Calif., to handle increased shipping volume from customers throughout the region. The expansion, which more than doubles the existing space, will open in late September. In addition to expedited package processing capability supported by advanced technology and conveyor systems, the facility will have expanded vehicle parking and an enlarged UPS Customer Center.
“We’re ready with more capacity to serve customers’ eastward growth in Southern California’s Inland Empire,” said Noel Massie, president of the South California District. “The growth of warehouse and distribution operations, as well as residential construction in the region, has necessitated the need to expand our facilities and operations.”
Additional pickup and delivery services will address volume growth. New facilities bring approximately 500 new jobs to the area.
UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced the addition of two new package distribution facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Both buildings are being leased and modified to serve as distribution facilities. These new additions to UPS’s integrated network address growth in package volume.
“UPS continues to see growth in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex,” said Craig Wiltz, president of the Red River District. “These two new buildings increase our ability to address the rapid expansion of residential and commercial demand and significantly increase our employee base in the area.”
