2 wage scales

Talked to a CDL trainer he told me the company has unofficially adapted a 2 wage scale policy. They are moving him from a working RTD to a full table me 9 to 5 trainer.

How is that considered 2 wage scales? If they move each instructor to salaried, isn't that 1 scale. Why is that bad? If class doesn't last 8 hrs, he is salaried and will get a set amount twice a month. Very few classes last more than 8 hrs per day.

I meant they need a full time trainer for all the turnover they expect when the new RTDs leave after they figure out there is no step process.

New hire RTD pay is about 19 to 21 an hr depending on market. Not bad for a driver with zero experience. No long haul, no hotels or sleeper beds. Could be worse.
