Far too often Dems will campaign as more conservative to get elected but afterwards revert to the liberal party line. I don't see Lamb trying to buck the system. He has to be hoping to get the party to support him in the future since his seat goes away in November.

Opposing party usually does well in the elections, as it should be. One party shouldn't hold all the power, nothing good comes of that.

Lamb still isn't officially the winner. He has a slight lead with a few more ballots to be counted. There will certainly be a recount.
