And So It Begins...

Show me a post where I blame fedex for everything, or else I will just say you are lying again. In fact, I will say you are a liar, because I don't blame fedex for anything except being run by people who don't care about their workers.
You make a blanket statement about rich people as if it's gospel fact but deny constantly criticizing FedEx? :backingout:

To hell with it. Should be 20$ on in certain regions. But how to monitor and control what qualifies for Government Assistance afterward. Example: Full Welfare, Section 8, Food Stamp, Acc programs in a state like NY, CT, MA total 40k plus. Than add Your 31,200 gross salary of full time work at 15$. ?
Are you assuming they'll stay at $15hr? What if they get a side job for another 20 hours? And the $15hr would be a nationwide minimum. Certainly in much higher cost areas the state could set it higher. Chances are pretty good that harder work will require an employer to offer more or a worker will choose to take an easier job down the street for the same pay. And it's really not up to employers to guarantee a good life. What drives people is the desire to do better. That drives the economy. It's why people choose to work for more at FedEx than down the street for $12hour. Those that prefer it easier for less pay have made a choice too. And deal with it accordingly, living with friends or family, doing without a car, not indulging in expense habits, etc. The difference between a lot of states is some are willing to give all those benefits in addition to minimum wage. Why your taxes are so high and those who can are moving out. Which eventually puts those States in dire straits. There are no easy answers but at the core of this is the only things that truly work in the long run is hard work and self reliance. If everyone stuck to that most things would work themselves out and we could take care of those truly in need like the disabled. Or the elderly. Or the young pregnant woman needing help until she can get a job.

I’m surprised malls are still open at all - I haven’t stepped foot in one in years. And the last one I was in looked like a scene out of a zombie apocalypse movie.

I am shocked Van! Here you are a small government, free enterprise, corporate apologist and you're calling for government intervention and by law establish a 15 buck minimum wage. A person with your convictions should be advocating for no federal minimum wage period. What's gotten into you? Could it be oh no......socialism?

No, I'm a Christian, and that matters more to me than party affiliation.

Why do heartless piggy republicans always use the poor as scapegoats for every problem in their lives?????
You are half right- If you are under 30 and a Republican you are heartless if you are over 30 and a Democrat you are brainless

A $15/hour minimum wage only helps those who are worth $15/hour. A guy who is worth considerably less than $15/hour is screwed.
Everyone has to feed themselves and their family. If the minimum wage years ago was worth what $15hr is now, then why aren't we paying $15hr minimum? We can talk all day about how people need to prepare themselves better, but those low skill, low pay jobs still need to be filled. When business owners have a huge home in an expensive area, possibly a second home somewhere, have very nice cars, beautiful furniture, the latest clothes, take fun trips, etc, and their employees are barely surviving then all the talk about it's the employee's fault just falls on deaf ears. And makes it possible for socialists selling a better life to get their message heard.

And they are, by people who have few skills and make very little money (and are more likely to have tattoos on their faces).

Around here, the dregs work on lawn crews and tree crews. Each of those companies has an owner, one or two guys who supervise, and the grunts who do most of the work. The grunts start out at around $10/hour. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Most of the factories start out at $15/hour or more, plus benefits. No experience required in most cases.

Would you like to venture a guess as to why those grunts aren't working at a factory for $5/hour more plus benefits?

Criminal record? But then again, if your lawn looks nice when they're through are they dregs? And in much of the country these days most working on lawn care, etc are illegal aliens. Does that make them dregs? And it still comes down to common decency. Pay people a living wage.
