And So It Begins...

Criminal record? But then again, if your lawn looks nice when they're through are they dregs? And in much of the country these days most working on lawn care, etc are illegal aliens. Does that make them dregs? And it still comes down to common decency. Pay people a living wage.

Reread what I posted. There are good steady jobs that pay 50% more than what the lawn/tree guys pay, plus benefits. Better working conditions. Opportunities for advancement. Paid vacations. Those places are always hiring in this area. There's your decency. There's your living wage.

If you expect Skeeter, CEO of Xtreem Lawn Service, to compete with that, it ain't gonna happen.

Everyone has to feed themselves and their family. If the minimum wage years ago was worth what $15hr is now, then why aren't we paying $15hr minimum? We can talk all day about how people need to prepare themselves better, but those low skill, low pay jobs still need to be filled. When business owners have a huge home in an expensive area, possibly a second home somewhere, have very nice cars, beautiful furniture, the latest clothes, take fun trips, etc, and their employees are barely surviving then all the talk about it's the employee's fault just falls on deaf ears. And makes it possible for socialists selling a better life to get their message heard.

Once upon a time, those "low skill, low pay jobs" were overwhelmingly filled by teenagers, young adults, and the semi-retired. And the vast majority of those people were native-born citizens. For younger people, this was their first taste of learning how to be a responsible adult.

And now immigrants have those jobs. While liberals sell the lie that "immigrants have always done those jobs."

Employers treat their employees like dirt only when they know that a replacement can be easily found. And excessive immigration guarantees that.

It's ironic and laughable that the politicians who advocate for excessive immigration (thus lowering the quality of life for many citizens) are the same people selling the notion of socialism.

And the Millennials are all ears. And I don't blame them.

There are a lot of places that don't have good steady jobs. And yet people still have to eat, pay rent(which is high these days), pay for a lot of things. And when your factories are full up with workers, what does everyone else do? I don't agree with Andrew Yang on a lot of what he advocates, similar to what other Democrats are pushing. But he does say something I agree with when he pushes his universal basic income. And that's that the poor will be spending that back into the economy on things they need. Same with the minimum wage. $15hr won't provide the Life of Riley. But it will help people live with dignity.

Immigrants fill those jobs because teenagers don't want them, they're busy getting an education.

No, that's progressives. They're always wringing their hands over how we need to fix this free market so that it "works for everyone and not just the well off."
When 1% of a nation's population controls 40 % of the nation's wealth while the have not's spend their entire lives making somebody else rich I don't care what your political views are or where your socioeconomic beliefs lie the political, economic and social pressures are certain to grow until they reach a boiling point . And history is full of examples of what often happens when it does and it's seldom pleasant.

Lucky for me, I'll be ok when the revolution comes. The poor people live way over on the other side of town, they don't have cars, and it's too far to walk to my house. There might be some really motivated ones but there are enough liquor stores, stores where everything is a dollar, and pawn shops over there to keep them occupied. Thanks but I've got this one covered.

Wow... That's low. I know I've had disagreements with you in the past but I at least thought you brought something to the table, every now and then.

Disappointed I was wrong, apparently.

He's been looking for his nose at us ever since he joined this forum. It's all about winners and losers with him.

Nope! I also forgot to add that just in case a couple of them get past the liquor stores, dollar marts, and pawn shops, and get to my part of town and still want to have a revolution... we have more guns.
