There are only 630,000 legally owned automatic guns in the USA.
And none of them have been involved in any mass shootings.
It takes at least one year just for the paperwork to be approved by the ATF in order for one to transfer ownership.
Since the law only allows used guns ( 1986 ban ) to be owned , the availability supply is limited.
Prices can range in the thousands and ammo can cost over $5 a round. ( along with a $200 transfer tax per weapon )

So paying $600 for an automatic and ammo is a stupid statement.
