Reaffirms what we've talked about in the past. It's a poor setup. Fat Freddy wastes oceans of oil and mountains of manpower and horsepower . Now as long as all of it was cheap and readily available he could get away with it. I knew that article would be popular with people here. Its message is that if FedEx spent more money to retain employees, it wouldn't have to spend more money to retain employees. Such nonsensical logic is hard to beat.

Actually, if Fred was committed to creating the most efficient package delivery service, and wasn’t so threatened by the thought of dealing with collective bargaining, he could afford to pay competitively, and managers would be able to browbeat employees who were actually afraid to lose their jobs.

Smith is probably the biggest control freak in corporate America. Coupled with his deep-seated hatred of unions and having been raised as a spoiled rich kid, well the rest is self explanatory.
OTD:...UPS 95% Fat Freddy's CHUPS...85%. And the media is chewing his nuts off.
And now that Fat Freddy and his loyal subjects have themselves in a hell of a mess...what do they do? Same as always. They expect people to come in off the street put forth a heroic and Herculean effort, busting their butts get them caught up, back in the good graces of their shipping customers, get them out of the god awful mess the greedy expletive deleted got themselves into.... and what do they have to show for it? What is the thanks they get for it? On Christmas morning they are informed that they have simply been disposed off and back left fending for themselves.
What has changed here is that people are no longer willing to be treated in such a disrespectful manner.

They’ve already made the decision at my station to roll it each day. We’ll still get that freight in the afternoon but those cans will sit until the next morning.

I was finished and driving back to the station today at 1500 and our wave 2 drivers were just leaving the building.
