My retirement will be closer to $50k annually. We don't get insurance.....after 40 years. With social security....about $70k. We'll be comfortable and not have to give much up if anything. I don't know about "living the dream".....I do have a great job and grateful.

My back of the envelope math says 40 years gets you either around $62k in L705. 4k-ish a month for 30 years and then an extra $112 a month per additional year.

705 may be different but 710 which is most of Illinois has a terrible pension. Top out at like 3200 a month at 30 years and never get anymore no matter how long you work.
