last night i was looking up employee reviews of 2 big unionized railways.

they constantly complained of being bullied and harassed despite being unionized. speaks to larger systemic question about the economy.
I wonder if you meant society instead of economy ?

although I do believe the love of money is at the root of many kinds of evil.

This is particularly evident in corporations.

you're just asking for trouble when you talk to management about other employees. maybe that is why no one wants to help you. just do your job and mind your own business.

sounds like it's too late though.

this is what we get trying to give good advice when we don't know the WHOLE story.
Then dont give it. Nothing is any different than any other thread or response here. It's all hearsay.

But the issue of someone purposely being hit, checked, hazed, harassed (certain levels thereof), by anyone while you're on the clock is sudden death (employment wise) and especially if you are hourly.

@Defender of right , if the issue persists do what @Kelgirl said and then file a police report the day you get shoved/checked and let the chips fall where they may.

Be sure the police report lists that it is an ongoing issue and put the supervisor(s) name in it to make the company aware their failures that are going to make them liable in a lawsuit.

If you're sick of it do something "legal" to stop it.

Being a puss has nothing to do with enduring physical abuse on the job. The Birmingham and San Francisco killings got the company looking at how things should be handled.

There are certain qualifications for working at ups but being either a black belt or a punching bag is not on the list.

I don't think the Teamster.net spillover will mind someone not being nice..
I won't speak for Teamster.net nor do I know what they think.

It is a possibility that a little more kindness here on the BC may just do a small part to counteract the chronic sneakiness of many of the habitual BC posters.

I believe these chronic responses might incorrectly lead one to believe that the BC Forums are monopolized by individuals that may appear to be bullies in their own way.

It means don’t go crying to other people because you’re getting “bullied”. You’re not a middle schooler having your lunch money stolen from the high school seniors anymore.
I disagree.

Any conduct like this in the UPS Organization should be not be taken lightly.

I don't believe in blaming the victim of bullying or their unwillingness to accept it as ok. I believe the willingness to address the issue correctly is a sign of strength of character and not of weakness of character as you imply.

The way mob mentality works in a workplace and the willingness to do and accept what is wrong because of fear and intimidation is the real sign of weakness.

Unfortunately this mentality is,generally speaking, pretty representative of the American workforce of today.

I've been with ups west sac for 7 years now and for the last couple years I've been on night shift watching blatant favoritism and frequent bullying. I've been speaking out about it and even went to the local union hall but was basically turned away without help offered. Earlier this week I was shoulder checked by a coworker and bumped into the handle for an irreg slide. When I filed the complaint about the employee with hr, and then went to the manager for my area to report it, the manager told me theres no way it was intentional and shunned me, so I told him I was going to pursue disciplinary action. Later in the evening the same manager looked at me and said " I got 99 problems and a bitch ain't one" and laughed at me. I've talked to several other employees who are afraid to get involved due to retaliation, but I have a supervisor who the manager took into his office so the above employee could yell at him for 20+ minutes willing to come forward about the bullying. I'm trying to find a number for corporate to contact them as well, because this issue is way bigger than me and I need serious help. PLEASE anyone with advice or information please please help.
Sounds like you going be a workplace shooter in next few months

im anti capitalist. in favor of a worker owned and controlled economy where workers all vote on what to do / elect managers to make decisions on their behalf.

ive worked at too many unionized capitalist jobs to know its not good enough.

I understand. Capitalism, corruption and abuse of the working class all seem to go hand in hand. I believe in Labor.

which means what? keep your head down and take it?

bullying is related to the economy because the economy centralizes power and we have abuse of power.

No it's not. Unfortunately it's human nature. Some people are jerks. What's being said here, is that a lot of people stop being jerks, when they're confronted and told to knock it the friend* off.

The structures in place regarding reporting to management, HR, 1800 number, etc. is AFTER a simple discussion with a jerk has failed. It sounds like the OP didn't stand up for themselves (VERBALLY), and then their conscience is bothering them, so they want some system to lash out for them. That behavior doesn't get much respect.

It hasn't anything to do with the economy, because tell me that there's never been an abuse of power under any kind of socialist regime you want to point to.

it has alot to do with any economy which centralizes power in few hands be it slavery, socialism, capitalism, etc.

its called an abuse of power.

we have rotten supervisors at my job too and people are afraid of retaliation for reporting including being fired.
