A strange Thanksgiving coming to California

Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, has pole-vaulted over the line that separates good government from tyranny and canceled Thanksgiving. Well, that’s not quite fair. Rather, he’s made it very difficult to celebrate Thanksgiving if you follow his new rules.

Newsom has mandated that all Thanksgiving celebrations be held outside, provided only three households are represented in the gathering. Of course, all mask-wearing and social distancing guidelines must be observed.

Then, said DICtator does this... Do as I say not as I get to do because I'm better than you.

Newsom attended French Laundry party with more households than California advises during pandemic

Gov. Gavin Newsom attended a birthday party for on of his political advisers last week that included people from several housholds, the type of gathering his administration has discouraged during the coronavirus pandemic.

The dinner the night of Nov. 6 at the famed French Laundry (one of the most expensive in the country) in Yountville in Napa County brought together at least 12 people.

A California judge in San Diego has ruled that the state cannot take any action to prevent strip clubs from “being allowed to provide live adult entertainment,” and must allow them to reopen. The owners had argued their First Amendment rights were being violated and the judge agreed.
Meanwhile, places of worship are making the exact same argument about their First Amendment rights and remain closed

California inmates part of $1B unemployment fraud schemes, prosecutors say

Sophisticated crime rings involving inmates in California's jails and prisons may have stolen upwards of $1 billion in pandemic unemployment aid, four district attorneys and a federal prosecutor announced Tuesday.

The news: A multi-agency investigation found that 35,000 unemployment claims were filed in the name of California state prison inmates between March and August, including that of convicted murderer Scott Peterson, and that at least 20,000 had been paid out, said Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert.

And....

Los Angeles has seen more than 300 murders this year - highest figure in a decade

At least 31 people were shot in the last week alone, four of them fatally, Chief Moore says.

These are current stories happening in the beautiful state of California.

Strength through joy

On Sunday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health tweeted out new restrictions to bars and restaurants, restricting outdoor dining starting Wednesday night.

FOX 11 reported that the restrictions were announced without being discussed with the L.A. County Board of Supervisors. On Tuesday at the Board of Supervisors meeting, DPH officials were asked to provide data to back up their new restrictions. DPH previously said they were prompted to impose the new outdoor dining restrictions due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the county.
Supervisor Janice Hahn asked L.A. Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer about what data were used, but she passed the question to DPH Dr. Muntu Davis. Hahn asked Davis: “How many restaurants have been the site of workplace outbreaks?”

Davis responded: “Umm, I’ll have to pull that number up. The best data to give you in relation to contributions that come from people dining out at restaurants, where you cannot wear your face covering while you eat and drink, comes actually from the CDC. There was a case-controlled study, which is the highest standard that we have in terms of looking at data, that assessed information from 11 outpatient facilities, and 10 states, and noted that the cases were two times more likely to have dined out at a restaurant than those who did not. So that’s the best information we have that’s very specific to restaurants.”

The study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention included indoor dining, meaning DPH had no specific data to back up its new restrictions.
