If you have a trailer that does not have a rollup door, how are you supposed to shut the doors unless you pull off the dock?

Where I worked, the unload/reload was supposed to close the door to the trailer after they called in the move to feeder yard control. (roll up doors) If it was a barn door trailer, even though there is not supposed to be anyone inside it by the time you get there, it's your responsibility to visibly check to make sure there are no warm bodies or rollers-extendos inside before you pull it.

exactly. this is the feeder driver's responsibility. we had too many incidents years ago when we left it up to the hub supe to make sure warehouse door was closed before we pulled.

it did take more time for us to check every single trailer before we moved it but if you want something done right , you have to do it yourself.

yard control would be pleading with us to go faster and tell us that we were X moves behind but the company would not put any more yard drivers on to pick up the slack so too bad.

an extra 30-60 seconds really added up and when we feeder drivers were wanting to pull to make up sets and get on the road especially for a snow night , it was really frustrating.
