Weren't other shippers threatening to stop shipping and divert their volume if their drivers didn't get their jobs back immediately?

Yes the 250 drivers had all their customers threaten to leave UPS and wrote letters demanding their drivers return to work. New York City is a big union town. The governor of the state also got behind saying it would terminate their contract with UPS.

How about 98 when your hero took over.

Complicity is a noose you can't get out of.

Smoke is getting thick here.
They raised the pension back then prior to Hoffa because of politics. There was no way to pay for it and it shouldn't have been raised as much as it was.

Fast forward to now there was no way to lower it legally until the law changed last year.

This is not Hoffa or the current union trustees

I was standing on the strike line when the company offered the $1000 bump.

I'm smart enough to know that your hero waited until congress (INCLUDING DEMOCRATS) passed the bill to take the heat off of them.

Hof could have reduced the benefit and taken the political fallout way back when?

Keep blaming Carey.
Keep blaming everyone but the folks that have been running the show for almost two decades.

Good luck.
Polly want a cracker?
That is not a factual statement about reducing the benefits. You know or should have had knowledge

Not sure about the governor but the City Council was planning on voting to end certain tax breaks for UPS. That certainly put a fire under Brown!!

Every non elected position is ran by Hoffa loyalists.

Why did Hoffa fire the car-haulers director who ran on the FG slate in 2011?

Why are freight, car haulers, warehouse etc members turning on Hoffa?

Hoffa will not only lose the Central States...he will get killed!
TDU lies.

And bad ones at that.

Parking fines (in the millions) would no longer be forgiven.

The shipping contract with the city would not be renewed according to the councilwoman in the media video. The public exposure was major.

"Don't mess with their drivers" was the message.

They had the NYPD giving traffic tickets to every truck parking on a red until the 250 got their jobs back, the city also threatened to terminate their contract with UPS and go with FedEx if they didn't give the 250 jobs back. Tim was instrumental in getting the entire city to support them and made the company look really bad.
And I've noticed that you're a new forum member joining just of yesterday this might be a good thing for you to learn from.
