China Trade Deal

Trump announces 'phase one' trade deal with China

It looks like the Chinese are ready to deal.

Markets are up on the news, China will buy 40-50 billion in agricultural products, and our financial services get access to China's marketplaces.

CNN won't report that, though. They would like you all to know that it is "National coming out day". So never mind the massive deal that the President just scored for our country.

It will be fine

Phase one. Lol. Trump will postpone his next round tariffs in exchange for a pinky promise from China to buy some food. Fluff, nothing more.

China's got huge problems with African Swine Fever. The Chinese eat huge amounts of pork and more than half their herd is gone. The deal should remove the 60% tariff on American pork. Our pig farmers needed a deal desperately and this does it.

I guess you just trust the Chinese more than I do.

Not a matter of trust. If their government has food shortages won't be long until they aren't the government. They specifically put pork and soybeans on the table, not us.
So you think they’re going to buy stuff they need in exchange for tariff relief? If their need was actually dire we wouldn’t drop the tariffs, we’d use it as leverage. Fluff that the rube Trump base slops up, nothing more.

No, the Chinese have, and have always had, protective tariffs on their industries. They have a 60% tariff on outside pork. But AFS has killed off over 200 million pigs. And is spreading all over Asia. You might want to drop the Trump hatred long enough to see what's happening in the world. For example the extremely wet Spring delayed planting of crops. Farmers were praying that there would be a late freeze this year but didn't happen. A record October storm is clobbering crops that haven't reached maturity. And the rain has come back, making fields so muddy they can't support the combines to harvest what has matured. Which will lead to disease and rot. Expect higher prices.

he's so screwed up. next thing you know he'll be trying to make things better for the working man...

oh wait.. um.....
Honestly all this reminds me of our last contract, everyone was so worried about instant gratification and getting their raise they didn't realize what they lost.

They was too lazy to vote and don't have the balls to strike

It's the same way with these trade deals. OMG the market is going down ( for the short term) no pain no gain

Making things better for the working man?

Surely you jest!

Quick quiz: In 2018 the disparity between the rich and poor a) narrowed due to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act b) was the same as the preceding ten years c) was at the greatest level in the last fifty years.

Just for fun: the number of mining jobs under Trump vs. Obama were a) tens of thousands more b) the same c) tens of thousands less.

The answer to both: aye aye yikes!

we still talking about the working man or are we going to try to twist one stastic to condemn all positive statistics?

under trump there are more working men and women. lowest unemployment numbers in 50 years.
more good manufactoring jobs , and wages increasing at approximately 3 percent .

in addition lower taxes and a higher stock market means more working men and women are sticking more money in their 401 K's and savings.

thats an easy one tell me how many mining jobs you would have had under Hillary. i cant believe any democratic from a party that wants to put miners out of business would actually try to use minors to make a desperate negative argument. but then you guys dont have anything negative to work with

Unemployment has been trending downwards since the great recession. When you factor in underemployment, those working part-time jobs that want to be working full-time and those that have quit trying all together, the stats probably aren’t that great.

...wages increasing at approximately 3 percent

Not in real terms. I’ve pointed this out to you before, and it’s not all that hard of a concept to grasp.

The bottom eighty percent owns six percent of all stock. Good luck to you if you truly believe that problem will be solved by the other half of the two-party system being in office.
