Here is evidence of audio tracks :thumbup1: secretly recorded during grievance proceeding at UPS in Denver CO. regarding a driver who was accused of an allegation having no merit to these accusations was discriminated, harassed and abused  during these proceedings as Teamsters local union 435 stood by and allowed this abusive behavior from the company (UPS) to continue:mad: . We invite you to understand the severity and ongoing occurrences of abusive behavior and discrimination in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Please publish this article based upon evidence: Revealing and exposing embezzlement of money illegally taken out from the backside of this driver's weekly payroll checks:crying: , and the results in the outcome and fate of this employee (driver) during his employment with UPS have filed a wage claim with the Department of Labor, and filed charges with the (NLRB) National Labor Relations Board against local 435 who did not represent and protect this driver during his employment with UPS. The employee (driver) had filed continuous grievances over the same issues relating to his nightmare on-going- payroll problems, and article 37 harassment  concerns exposing abusive behavior, and discrimination with limited solutions, and no results from teamster’s local union 435. UPS retaliated against the driver in filing grievances and charges related to the issues at hand. Other employees with UPS have experienced a similar fate; set-up by the union then UPS terminated them for unjust cause:sad: . Still today UPS employee’s are being mistreated and abused by bigotry and discrimination at various levels evoking grave concerns.

Looking for a cookie? It's true we have some issues, but this sort of crap from Mr Post #1 will not help us in any way. Go chase another ambulance...

I actually like seeing proof and tip my hat off to the driver that recorded the conversations. When this type of nonsense is brought to others attention, we get rid of the bad UPS mgrs and Teamster officials that tarnish both names. A really long time ago we had a driver(actually steward at the time) that had a manager threaten him. The driver had the whole conversation on tape and it wasnt very pretty. The driver worked up the ranks in the union and then ran for local 804 president. When our local went international, he then ran for that presidency and won that also. His name was Ron Carey.

.......and it's not until this "crap" affects you will it get your attention. I have seen comparable violations by the company that apparently thinks it's above the laws of the land that apply to everyone else.
The public and the employee populace needs to hear and be aware of these types of abuses by the company.
I applaud this expose'.

Not everyone is on "the good ship lollipop".

Who it is among us feeling the need to dredge up 10 year old news? And why use information from a decade ago to blast the company?

I know this forum includes the fact that one may not defame anyone here or UPS employees in general, but...

A huge number of my ex co workers and I know and worked on a daily basis for years with everyone involved in this lawsuit.

Wish I could say more, but will leave it that there are those who will try to win a Stella Award (in 1992, Stella Liebeck, 79, spilled a cup of hot McDonald's coffee onto her lap and a New Mexico jury awarded her $2.9 million in damages) and chuckle all the way to the bank.

So the next time you want to complain about unfair practices,
"tend to your own knitting" and come forward with issues closer to home concerning something you might actually know about.

Good points, Sammie. And to the rest: There's a big old sign now at the main (and only) entrance to Denver's primary hub, explicitly prohibiting union officials and workers from bringing in any recording device.

"....prohibiting union officials and workers from bringing in any recording device."

And why is that sign there? Because...

"this still goes on to this day."

I think every disciplinary meeting should be recorded. That way, EVERYONE knows what EVERYONE said.

I don't know where I heard this (may have even read it here on Browncafe) but I remember hearing something similar to the story above. A BA, steward or another union official went into a UPS manager's office (think it was a division manager at least) to discuss an issue. The manager proceeded to threaten the union official, I think in some workplace fashion as well as possibly physically. Moronic manager didn't know this said official carried a voice-activated recorder on his person everytime he went into management meetings. Of course, this idiot was caught on tape threatening the union official. The union official listened to the tirade, was excused and left. My recollection is he made copies and sent a copy to corporate, along with a few other interested parties. Needless to say, Corporate wasn't very pleased with him. Not remembering where I heard this, I don't know what became of the manager, let alone who the union official was. Its very possible I heard this in Chicago a few years ago. This sound familiar to anyone in Chicago? -Rocky

UPS has a zero tolerance policy for workplace violence. I'm sure the recorded employee was terminated, right?

SUMMARY:

This Website: :censored2: is designed to inform the viewer and listener the time has come to see the world as it is regarding matters of grave importance concerning corporate misconduct and unfair labor practices. The Company’s union did not represent this employee as they should have. This union accepts and tolerates inappropriate behavior in the mistreatment of individuals or employees whose rights have no place in one corporate industry  (UPS).

This site has a certain sneaky appearance to it. It claims its a voice against corporate misdeeds but appears to target UPS only. It has an "about us" link that has no information as to who "us" are or why they are running this website. Perhaps US can come forth and let us know why they have an axe to grind with the brown machine? Perhaps the owner of this site could explain why we rehasing old misdeeds of this targeted corperation? Or perhaps we should accept all information without question as it pertains to this boogeyman corporation they have targeted. Every where we turn we have some self appointed savior of the working man looking to expose the evil corperation. Since the corperation is not presently performing any evil misdeeds against me perhaps you could focus your attention on fighting crime in the streets so I don't have to worry about that boogeyman breaking into my house?

If you worked with this people then it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that this type of treatment of employees occurs....probably more than is publicized to the unsuspecting public.

"tend to my own knitting....."? I might actually know about several situations, "......closer to home.....", where the company seems to be manipulating older employees out the door in direct contradiction of the mutually agreed upon labor contract (article 37, I think) referencing "....consideration of the age and physical condition of the employee...." as well as recent mandates by our U.S. President prohibiting age discrimination.

Older employees beware! If you don't know what a FCE is I would suggest that you find out and avoid it at all costs!

Sorry, but I think you misinterpreted my post.

My little tirade was directed expressly to the individual who gave birth to this thread. In my eyes and a few dozen more, this sexual harrassment lawsuit was "Frivolous Litigation". End of story.

In no way did I mean to imply that the treatment of people within our company or anywhere else is less than perfect.
During my 30 years with UPS, (3 years retired now) I will admit that I sought legal counsel during some rough seas that I had to navigate so I'm the last person on earth to tell anyone that harrassment, age discrimination, etc. does not exist.

Rocky we had a ba physically attacked by a manager in the addison building 2 to 3 years ago. He would get a police escort thru the building until the manager was terminated.

WOW!!! If it was on the high-side of 2 to 3 years ago, it could be the same incident I heard about. I left just over 2 years ago. What I posted were only my recollections. Parts of it could be wrong, embellishments from the person I heard about it from or just my memory not up to par. -Rocky

could someone, possibly the OP explain to us how ethical recording someone without their permission is?

Ethically speaking, its an extreme no-no to say the least. The union official thought he had a reason for taping whatever happened, though. What the reason was, I was either not told or have forgotten. -Rocky

Perhaps the BIGGER question might be:

Why is the company afraid of anything being recorded if what they are doing is open, up front and HONEST?

I think that presence in a place of business implies consent to be recorded. I know that lots of businesses record without warning customers and/or employees.

The tough part is figuring out whether that implies a two-way street. The details are probably spelled out in UPS policies and labor contracts. Electronically recorded evidence is not to be used against IBT members, but it can still be used for investigation.

Laws (which is a slight change-of-subject from ethics:sad: ) vary by location, and my knowledge is dated, but Oregon laws (used to?) allow anyone who is party to an in-person conversation to record it without notifying others.

Exception: It is illegal to record an on-duty police officer without permission. (Does this mean they have something to hide?)

Re: Corporate abuse: Unfair labor practices exposing violation-Civil Rights Act of 19

Thank you nadog12, or "Mr. Post # 1", as you were derrogatively referred to by a "senior member" who apparently feels that contributions by newbies are unimportant to anyone else. If the only worthy posts are based on the number of times you weigh in on these discussions, his useless post creates just another notch in his status. It doesn't make his posts or him any more important than anyone else or their posts.

The fact of the matter is that many can benefit, yes, a whole decade later, from certain information obtained here. It is the only reason many people read these posts. Not everyone has an ax to grind with the 'big brown machine', here. And, if you have no cause to, then hip, hip, hoo, ray for you. You can be proud of the company you work for and should be a happy camper - not so negative against those who "aren't on the good ship lollipop" (thank you trickpony1). However, the 'self appointed savior' is usually the one who 'this "crap" affects' (thank you, again, trickpony1) and the one who benefits from decade old information.
Since the corperation is not presently performing any evil misdeeds against me perhaps you could focus your attention on fighting crime in the streets so I don't have to worry about that boogeyman breaking into my house?
Well, if you'll pardon me, I don't give a rat's ass that the company is not presently performing evil misdeeds against YOU, and I don't give a bigger rat's ass about the boogeyman braking into YOUR house. I didn't know that the information in these threads had to pertain to YOU, the 'Almighty', or they were unimportant. Apparently, this was a post that did not concern you and you should have taken your 0 cents somewhere else.
So the next time you want to complain about unfair practices,
"tend to your own knitting" and come forward with issues closer to home concerning something you might actually know about
No, I don't think trickpony1 misinterpreted this post. And, I'm sure it wasn't meant to 'defame' anyone, right? And, hip, hip, hoo, ray for YOU... A huge number of my ex co workers and I know and worked on a daily basis for years with everyone involved in this lawsuit .. I don't know what it is with you people that think that if it doesn't affect YOU, then YOU have to jump in and be so condeming and judgmental against those whom it does affect. Those that it affects in an extreme way that you know nothing about. Those whose livlyhoods were visciously destroyed by the 'big brown machine'. Those who fight with everything they have every damn day to 'right' a 'wrong' and stand to loose everything they have because it is what they believe in. Yes, it damn well happens....Big Corporate, not just UPS, ****s on labor workers every single day. And, once in a while, despite the odds, a labor worker comes along and fights for his rights. Fights hard, I might add - and is willing to forfeight everything they and their entire family has to make it 'right'. Maybe he will win, maybe he won't. That won't affect you 'Almighties' either. And, Big Corporate will continue to **** on the labor workers - who knows, maybe even YOU someday, but don't come here for sympathy (or excuse me, a cookie). But, don't weight in here with your pompous attitudes that someone is always out for the poor 'boogeyman' corporation or looking to 'grind an ax'. Many people have legitimate reasons that this type information can help, and their needs are everybit as important as YOURS are. If it doesn't affect you, move on down the road till you find one that does. Otherwise, take your derrogatory comments and worthless comments somewhere else.
