Sweeten the retirement payout......at the expense of the filthy part timers of course.
Most of the full timers in the Central and Southern have part time vested time under the UPS Pension Plan, they could increase or eliminate the 6 percent penalty when we become eligible for retirement. They proposed back in "97" 50 dollars per service year part time and 100 dollars full time any age once you hit 30 years.
The Company has total control over that pension plan, the complete failure of the Union to negotiate any real improvements indicates their willingness to cut and run over this issue. With the upcoming 2023 contract negotiations
(Pensions) will be probably the main issue brought to the table, particularly for those members under the Central and Souther supplement, the West is sitting pretty thanks much to it's diversity and part timer's contributions.
A question should be asked to the teamster's candidates at the debates on their stance on eliminating any duplicate Central Supplemental language in the
(Master) relating to pension benefits, it would give more negotiating power for those affected. As it stands now...if the Central Supplement is voted down and the Master passes those under the IBT/UPS pension and the UPS Pension Plan will have not any bargaining power to get the much needed improvements similar to the Western Conferences. I would like to know Vairma's position on that proposal, considering he is a trustee under one of the Western's pension trusts, will he be willing to give us under the Central and Southern the option to really improvement our retirement benefits?
