So I noticed that a few things have changed so ill post them. Here is an updated list of DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE rules for PC Drivers. Maybe this will save a life or something....

Here in the Northwest its:

8 rules of backing:

#1 plan ahead and avoid backing.
#2 don't back unless necessary.
#3 Back first upon arrival - when in doubt get out.
#4 Z-Scan area you are backing into.
#5 honk every 3-4 seconds.
#6 use mirrors, listen, and look over shoulder.
#7 drivers-side back.
#8 no driveways.

This may be different in your building. It went from 5 to 8 rules here in the NW.

5 SEEING HABITS:

#1 AIM HIGH IN STEERING-
a) imaginary target - bullseye.
b) keeps u centered in lane and allows safe stops and corners.
c) find a safe path well ahead

#2 GET THEORY BIG PICTURE-
a) how deep & wide is it? What's in it? Objects and ground.
b) Avoids billboards & buys u time.
c) Stay back and see it all.

#3 KEEP YOU EYES MOVING-
a) Look front 2 seconds & rear 5-8 seconds.
b) keeps ur eyes forward and keeps u alive at intersections.
c) Scan don't stare

#4 LEAVE YOURSELF AN OUT-
a) have an escape route.
b) allows space on all 4 sides.
c) expect the unexpecte - be prepared.

#5 MAKE YOURSELF SEEN-
a) communicate in traffic. Use horn, signals, and lights.
b) establishes eye contact.
c) Don't Gamble - Use Your horn, Signals, and lights.

I'll post more tomorrow......

That's the problem with this DOK, it keeps changing. How am I expected to remember it word for word if it keeps changing? Another planned fail by those who think up this stuff.

Actually, given the current spree of adding TCD's, this could help out a few people signing bid sheets. I was given an accept/decline sheet yesterday.

Have faith.

Even as we speak, your Safety Committee is hard at work developing and testing new and improved acronyms to aid you in the memorization of this critical information.

Help is on the way!

Here the Safety Committee keeps there mouths shut because they have more crashes than the guys they're supposed to give PCM's to.
