It can, it doesn't have to. One of my best drivers is a young kid that lives in one of the worst neighborhoods in my city. By all demographic assumptions, he should be a thug/drug dealer/junkie, but he is a hard worker that will probably get himself a better job soon without a formal education.
There are always exceptions, and human nature tends to rise, if given the chances. Too bad everyone isn't given the same opportunity.

Oregon Passes GOP Senator's Bill Allowing Gun Seizure Order Without Gun Owner's Knowledge

The bill is SB 719, and it has now passed Oregon’s House and Senate. It creates an Extreme Risk Protection Order, which forces the subject of the order to hand over all firearms, as well as his concealed carry permit if he possesses one.

NRA-ILA reports:

Based on a California law enacted in 2014, SB 719A would create a so-called “Extreme Risk Protection Order” (ERPO) that could be obtained by a law enforcement officer, family member, or household member in an ex parte hearing to deprive someone of their Second Amendment rights without due process of the law.

The ex parte aspect of the law means the bill does not require the gun owner to be present for part of the hearing in which the judge decides whether guns should be taken from him.

Good intentions but the wording of the bill is far too vague.

Darn it, there goes another bright liberal anti-gun idea.

Man Defeats Top 'Smart Gun' Tech with $15 Worth of Magnets - Breitbart

Despite decades of the reports that smart guns are based on theoretical technology that does not work in reality, leftists have gravitated to the German manufactured Armatix IP1 as the smart gun of the future.
Problem #1: A hacker at a Colorado shooting range just showed how to completely sidestep the gun’s lock mechanism via the use of $15 of magnets.

Problem #2: The same hacker showed how to the lock the gun—when it is supposed to be in fire mode—so that the gun’s owner cannot use it in self-defense.

The Armatix IP1 ( The price ranges from $1,500 to $1,800 for an Armatix IP1 chambered in .22 long rifle. ) is designed to work when in close proximity with a watch that emits a certain radio frequency. When not close to the watch, the gun is designed to lock, which theoretically prevents it from being used by unauthorized persons. But the Daily Mail reports that a hacker, who goes by the pseudonym Plore, bought $15 of magnets off Amazon.com and was easily able to bypass the gun’s locking mechanism. Moreover, he “was also able to jam the device’s radio signals so the owner could not fire the gun even with the watch present.”

All Guns in Antioch Church Shooting Acquired via Background Checks - Breitbart

Nashville Metropolitan Police report that four guns were found on-scene following Sunday’s Antioch church shooting and all four guns were acquired from retailers – which means they were acquired via background checks.

The Tennessean reports that four guns were discovered on scene: a .40 caliber pistol, a 9mm pistol, a .22 caliber handgun, and an AR-15 rifle. Samson allegedly left the .22 caliber handgun and AR-15 in the SUV when he went inside the church. Police believe the only gun he used was the .40 caliber.

Nashville police say every gun was bought from a retailer. By federal law, such purchases must be conducted via a background check. Samson passed a background check for one of the guns himself and a relative passed a background check for the three weapons. The relative then gave the guns to Samson for “safe keeping.”
