On October 25, 2011, Public Safety Minister Vic Toews introduced a new bill to amend the Criminal Code of Canada, as well as the Firearms Act, which will abolish the long-gun registry and destroy all records to safeguard the privacy of Canadian citizens.

I don't know where you get that info from, but Germany and France still have Military Draft.
So, you're talking about 70 Million men that went to the Military in France & Germany combined.

Well trained with guns.
Let the battle begin - 70 Million Trained Military versus a few hundred thousand Deer Hunters !
I don't give a sh****t about Germany or France.

klein those 70 million don't stand a chance.
The logistics involved on just getting them onto a battlefield are mind boggling.

No where did I mention that people get to keep their guns after military service (Switzerland the exception - they keep their military issued rifles and guns for life time after being drafted).

But, guns are easy to hand out to all those former trained reserves in the rest of Europe.

In 1940, prior to the entry of the United States in the war, Great Britain was facing the imminent prospect of invasion by German troops based in recently conquered France.

Due to a critical shortage of rifles, some members of the British Home Guard were actually being issued spears and pikes to fight German troops with. American civilians were actually being asked to donate their hunting rifles, shotguns and revolvers so that they could be shipped to England in order to alleviate the arms shortage.

The only reason that Germany was ultimately unable to invade England was due to the Royal Air Force preventing the Luftwaffe from gaining the necessary air superiority over the English Channel. Had Germany been able to knock the RAF out and neutralize the Royal Navy, it would have been a relatively simple matter for them to conquer an England whose civilian population was essentialy unarmed.

Please explain your point in these two posts?

What for ? I simply responded to Dilli's post that Wisconsin hunters could take out half of Europe !

I just Re-read Dilli's post. She made no such claim. So once again your are making crap up. You really need to stick to the facts. One fact you either didn't read or chose to ignore from Dilli's post was,
]America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
which the opposite of what you claim to be replying to.

Hate to tell you this but a very large % of those hunters are also well trained ex military personnel. And a better description would be :

70 Million Trained Military versus a few hundred thousand [-]Deer Hunters [/-] snipers.

AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest army...America's hunters! I had never thought about this....

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. Allow me to restate that number:
Over the last several months Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran.
More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's
700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest
army in the world....And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states..It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed. Food for thought when next we consider gun control.
Klein, did you read the part that is hilited? Well re-read it. The key words 'under arms', implying currently. No where in what I posted did it refer to the draft, or the number of weapons that could be distributed.

James, You are so right about the military aspect of deer hunters. Even in general, deer hunters have to be pretty good at hiding and sniping. But it's not just the deer hunters. Stop and consider the militia groups. Idaho is a prime example. There are tons of militia types in Idaho. It would be interesting to see the numbers from that aspect.
