It's pretty hard to hide a rifel in a hand bag or in a jacket, isn't it ?
But, in any case, it just proves that Canadians are more decent people and don't go around shooting eachother, like in the US.
I think per capita the chances of getting shot here are 1/10 less than in America.

(gross figure : 4 people get shot here out of 100.000, and in the US it's 40 or more per 100.000 population).

When you complain about America, do you have express it with the same self righteousness as this man does when complaining about Canada? (see link)

Interesting thread.
I live in a "dry" Texas county and I have to drive 27.3 miles one way-( not that I have counted
:happy2:)- to buy beer.
One of the reasons I have a pickup truck is to have the ability to stock up on thirty packs.
Legally, I am breaking the law, by being a boot legger.
County law states that only 1 case of beer, or one bottle of whiskey can be in the possession of a person when they enter this county.
Most good Baptists preachers in the county keep several bottles, for "medicinal" reasons.
On the prostitution issue, sex has always been free.
Legalizing prostitution is just a way for local govt' to collect taxes.
Now to the subject of Canadians and Texas.
Inscribed on the monument at the Battle Field of San Jacinto is the original nationalities of the Texans that defeated Santa Anna at the birth place of the Republic of Texas. Canadians were among them.
Some folks were/are willing to sacrifice all, to protect the unwilling and give them the right of free speech.

PSST... ment, better look into what the founders really believed about guns. The original intent of guns wasnt to hold them at home. They were to be kept in the center of town, in a building, with the ammo separated by one floor. Gun powder was used back then.

The founders had no intentions of giving people automatic rifles and ammo that can penetrate armour.

Todays idea of guns is far removed from the founders original intent.

Todays gun freaks are men who never got over cowboys and indians as a kid. EGOmaniacs who live in fear, and wouldnt know how to defend themselves if given the opportunity. Gun owners are repeticiously sold the concept of fear, being afraid comes out in every explanantion ive seen on this thread.

"im gonna protect myself from intruders" "im gonna protect my family against carjackers" "im gonna protect myself from robbers"... blah blah blah,, no matter what the explanation, its all FEAR BASED.

The typical GUN owner doesnt describe the same America that I live in. I live in an America where I travel freely, live freely and dont have to keep my head on a swivel. Those that claim the have to sleep on a pistol to feel safe are the biggest babies of all.

If you cant even sleep in peace, how can you live in peace?

The FEAR basing of the GUN argument is for sissies, but it works as an effective tool to sell guns.

Its just too bad that those who live in fear and buy guns for "protection" only end up killing a family member or themselves.

I prefer not to live like a sissie.

Peace.
I sleep in peace every night, with my gun close at hand. I do so because I choose to. I travel freely, live freely and know perfectly well how to defend myself. I do NOT live in fear. I have never been repetitiously sold the concept of fear. Actually, it's quite the opposite. I have been repetitiously sold on the concept my RIGHTS as guaranteed in the constitution. One of which is my right to keep and bear arms. I buy guns because I like guns. Not for protection, but for collection. Because I HAVE THAT RIGHT.

You may be right in one of your statements, "

I'm also quite sure that the founding fathers had no clue that we would have computers, cell phones, dvd's, WII, and any one of hundreds of other products that are currently on the market. The rest of what you say is utter crap. Please do me one favor though, please come here and call me a sissie to my face just to give me the satisfaction of ESCORTING you off my property at the end of my .45.

It is not uncommon for counties within a state to superseded the laws of that state. I was stationed for four years in Lubbock, TX. Lubbock TX is the county seat of Lubbock County, which at the time I was there was a dry county. That's right--you couldn't buy alcohol anywhere within Lubbock County. There was an area just outside the county called The Strip which allowed alcohol sales--heck, they had drive-thru package stores.
Hell, if I'm not mistaken, there are still dry counties.

Pretty hard to spell rifel too, eh?

In fact for a 100 mile radius there was only one other wet county around Lubbock county untill a couple of ears ago. In the last five years there have been numerous, less populated counties voting wet.

Here's a little common sense for ya. Nobody's coming to take away your guns. And if they did, any resistance would be handled Waco style and survivors would be held indefinitely as "possible terror suspects" and it would all be 100% legal.

Here's a little fact for ya. The democrats have for generations tried to eliminate (or reduce) personally owned guns through legislation. The republicans are a little more sneaky about the process and pass laws that seem to be in support of gun ownership as long as the government can tell who has them and who doesn't.

And Obama and the democrats came sweeping into office and passed a series of a thousand gun control laws...oh...wait. That didn't happen.

Dilli, I also sleep in peace every night with nary a gun in sight. I travel freely and live freely without the worry of having to defend myself. I also do not live in fear.

Nobody. I remember some local folks drumming up gun sales with that scare tactic though. But considering your previous post and that Obama had such huge majorities, don't you think he would have rammed through monumental gun reducing legislation? Or maybe it really is just a sales pitch for the gun sellers and republican candidates.

The rhetoric before the election wasn't just a sales ploy or a republican campaign strategy. zer0bama is on record as an anti-gun advocate as is Nancy P. True enough they could have pushed through more stringent gun laws the first two years but they were too busy working on pushing 0bamacare for one reason and the fact that many of the dems looking to re-election in two years were shying away from gun legislation talk, in fact some of those had to be drug, kicking and moaning to vote yea on the health care bill. There were several bills introduce in 08 and 09 that never got support for that reason.

Then the disarming of the American public doesn't rate all that high afterall.
