Ever had to deal with a center manager and union stewards delaying the bids on routes by almost a week so someone can return off of work comp and secure a route? Not to mention the bidding sheet had been completed and all routes were filled. Asking for a friend….

No, have never felt with this but I would file a grievance. If you're one of those locals that has to file with the steward I would go to the local and file with the BA.

No reason to wait for one person to come back.

In my experience, routes can be filled by employees on workers compensation, but transfers must be filled once excepted.

HERE, they would bump where their seniority allowed when they came back to work.
No reason at all to hold up the bid.

Anybody on comp is out due to no fault of their own. They should get the route if seniority allows.

But UPS says every accident and injury is our fault! 😀
They say a lot of things. That's why we have seniority rules. Sounds like somebody wants to speed things up in order to jump seniority to get themselves that route?

Why doesn't the shop steward just call the guy on comp and ask him/her if they want that route?

He could, although not technically his responsibility and if something happened and he forgot, I’m sure others would be screaming.

Don’t worry he’s friendly
All they do here is contact the individual out on workman’s comp and notify them of their schedule bid date and time. When time comes and they don’t respond management will try and re contact then they get skipped and go on down to the next.

You got no argument from especially if someone has put their time in and has been doin it for 20+ years and they’re a good person. They shouldn’t get shafted and have to be unassigned. Ive just never seen this happen before and some people were pissed. Exactly what you said trying to secure a route.

Same guys that make back room deals with the suit monkeys.

Here, the steward would be responsible for getting a hold of the missing member and bid on his behalf, for whatever reason they're out. Comp, disability, vacation, whatever.

20+ years AND a good person?
