I am more left leaning than many here but in this case i think the robber fooled around and found out.
Many are saying the guy shot him too many times,that the robber was leaving and no threat,yada yada.
It's easy to Arm Chair QB this,and I;d have kept shooting as long as i thought he may pose a threat as well

It's Texas, were only convicted felons can not carry a gun ( open carry or not ).

The only reason I would fire least amount of shots possible is to limit the risk to the people around me not engaged in a violent crime.
if no one other than the robber was injured by the bullets, no one will care besides the nut jobs who just don’t want anyone ever to have a gun.

Or he could have stayed until the police got there and just kept his mouth shut until he got a lawyer.

I agree. Imagine firing an unnecessary shot that ricochets and kills/injures a bystander.
