“We differ from one another in our politics, and we also differ from one another on issues of constitutional interpretation,” wrote the signatories, which include the co-founder and other members of the conservative Federalist Society legal group. “But despite our differences, our carefully considered views of the law lead all of us to agree that the Constitution permits the impeachment, conviction, and disqualification of former officers, including presidents.”

its not an impeachment trial when the president is out of office and the chief justice says he can not constitutionally participate. you snowflakes are fabricating your own standards of justice for political reasons.
If there was any chance of a conviction Trump would take it to the Supreme Court and have it thrown out.

Having found out that the additional deployment of Troops in DC is because of death threats against members of Congress.
IMHO
Maybe just maybe if the members of Congress end this foolery and actually create laws that are beneficial to the betterment of the American people those alleged death threats would disappear.

That’s not a thing. A person convicted in an impeachment trial doesn’t get to appeal to the Supreme Court. The Senate is the high court in an impeachment trial.
But only for legitimate Senate trials with the chief justice presiding. What you've got going on now isn't constitutional. And since they're not following the Constitution lawsuits should be possible with the Supreme Court presiding. But not likely to go that far. Only 5 Republicans, the usual suspects, voted against Rand Paul's motion to dismiss.

These arguments are just theater so republicans can vote against procedure since the actions of the former president are indefensible.

So an official can only be disqualified while he or she still holds office? Therefore an elected official who gets impeached could avoid accountability just by resigning one minute before the Senate’s conviction vote.? That's not the "checks and balances" envisioned by the framers.
Only 5 Republican senators voted to keep the trial going. The same 5 will vote to impeach but it's not enough.

Now if Trump's lawyers handle this second impeachment trial properly ,he could have evidence entered into the official records that clearly show that cheating in the 2020 Elections did occur.
Thus turning the tables on everyone who voted for this fake impeachment.
Just think of it for a minute.
How do you think granny will act when the US Marshalls place her in handcuffs ?
