Except Korea and maybe Germany.
The USA is very transparent with a strong and free media.
China is probably the worst hit in the world in raw numbers but the individual there, as in all Socialist and Communist countries, is irrelevant.
Last I had looked Germany per capita numbers were a decent amount higher.
Korea did well though. But I don’t think Americans would go for being locked in their homes and knowingly tracked everywhere.
Germany actually looks better than USA in every way you can look at it.
Their success is attributable to two things:
- Targeted and strategic testing
- Much higher ratio of nurses to general population
Below is a story, albeit from a liberal rag, that outlines Germany's approach and success.
Germany's exemplary COVID-19 response
Germany tested and traced aggressively, and because of prior planning did not face any shocking shortages of tests, ventilators, personal protective equipment and ICU beds, among other necessary elements of a modern health system, let alone modern society. More profoundly, Germany, despite the deep political and social divisions endemic to any Western democracy, has widespread consensus on the severity of the pandemic and the strategy to fight it.
