Amazingly, union members understood you have to make sure that people get benefits from unionization.

If you get a job and your unorganized neighbor makes more than you, the union isn't going to get a lot of love or participation.

It's not enough to dangle the thought of an imaginary $100k/yr job at some point in your life for the reality of loading trailers for 3 1/2 to 9 hours a day for $15/hr. Then find out the FT job pays $20/hr 12 hours a day and sometimes 6 days a week. While the $40/hr drivers are going home at 4:30 to 5:30 everyday.

Yep. Both management and FT hourlies dont' understand that their future coworkers will be pulled from whoever starts at the given starting wage.

I've driven package car as a temp. It was as bad as expected. The same money can be had while not losing an entire life to this stupid job.

That's because I don't have to jump into a trash can (FT permanent) to know that it stinks. Seeing all the bitter old men limping back to the parking lot at 9pm for five days a week was plenty.
