Remember "McNamara's Morons"? The drafted kid with the low IQ's was in almost every case the first one to get sent to Viet Nam to become front line combat soldiers. They were the "Leonard's" in Full Metal Jacket. Oh yea, the military was a whole lot different in the draft era than it is now.It wasn't that way when I was drafted.

I finally watched the video that started this thread and republicans are who they are. There was nothing anti-American in that recruitment video, all that video said was its ok if you come from a different type of family, you can still excel in this nation's military.
The issue for republicans and bigots is that the commericial showed a trans person and then portrayed that trans as normal. For republicans who are driven by hatred and fear of groups of Americans they don't want having political power or influence in society, this makes them hate this nation. This is what's behind the disgust with this video.

I hope recruitment is where that fluffy preoccupation with one's self nonsense ends. That's civilian stuff that can be dangerous on the battlefield.
Our military's focus should be on being the best at killing enemies. Not just with our technology but with the mental and physical toughness of our people in uniform.
If that's not our military's training and operational focus then God help us all in the coming decades. Because the Chinese soldiers in the first part of the video are gonna open up a can of whoop ass on that soft American soldier with two moms if we actually try to defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion and it expands into a much wider conflict.

Those Chinese soldiers have not been in a continuous war for the last 30 years.
You've got another thing coming if you think the relatively minor conflicts we've been involved in over the last few decades would have us ready for an all-out war with China. Especially with miss 2 moms and friends being the kind of recruits our military is going for on the back end of it.
