Can't change the law? Democrats are the only ones that can fix the spending problem. If Republicans do it, that is starving children and killing old folk.
So Head Start, Meals On Wheels and school lunch programs are the key areas where you want cuts?

Dems didn't cut a thing? Why not? They had total control and spent even more?
The tax cut and jobs act had a 5.5 trillion dollar price tag. Spread equally over ten years, leaving a 550 billion dollar per year hole. Just remember that when looking at current spending levels.

No waste there?

We can't even spend the same amount in the next year. That is "slashing" spending.
Once a program starts feeding off the government money tree it can never have its funding cut. No matter how bloated it has become. There are a lot that do deserve all that money but there are many more that are just wasted money.

Head Start. Do we even know if the program is working? We've been dumping money into it for decades.

According to an independent study done by the Brookings Institute Head Start has improved childhood literacy and increased high school graduation rates .Got something that says differently....let's see it.

And are those projections remaining true and consistent with those claims?

Except the Brookings Institute is a far left commie/socialist organization.

Now please tell us more.

And no the info cannot be trusted as true or fact. And yes it makes a big difference in where it came from.

What are the numbers? Improvement vs total cost per kiddy? Maybe it's not worth the cost?

Head Start mutated from an early reading program to an attempt to end poverty and that is where it completely failed. No matter how much money they threw at it.

What are you talking about, The prop0sed Trump budgets all contained deficit spending which in turn was rolled over year after year to the national debt. The GOP which is an all symbolism party promotes itself as responsible public guardians of the public coffers ignored credible projections from qualified sources that the tax cuts would in fact add to the national overall debt.

The only debt the GOP had was to the wealthy donors who bankrolled their campaigns and demanded a return on their investment.
You're not getting it. The tax cuts resulted in more economic activity that brought in more revenue than before. But they also spent more. It was a spending issue that created more debt as they printed money to pay for the excess spending. And who are these wealthy donors that only contribute to the GOP? The Dems are in bed with Wall Street and the defense industry so plenty of wealthy donors all around.

And reducing taxes and regulations resulted in surplus revenue. It was the spending that was out of control.

Maybe those programs should be applied in places like Baltimore and Chicago where they can't find kids who are proficient in math and reading.
