Let's see how this plays out. Will the super rich, many that claim to be very liberal, supporting liberals that love spending other people's money, just write that check?

Must be planning for a Democrat to be in the White House..or reparations and universal heath care or illegal aliens.

@rickyb loves the idea? True commie-socialist property grab.

Only catch might be, the super rich flee the state. Then CA gets nothing.

america is already flush with cash but you let a few rich :censored2:s keep it all and the govt mostly funds welfare programs for them instead of funding social programs
So this idea is gold. These rich folk will fork over their wealth to the state?

"Tax the rich, feed the poor, until there are, no rich no more."
Then what do you do? What the rich fleeing New York and California has exposed is they pay the bulk of the taxes. It's why you have governors now imploring that the rich come back. They let their cities go to hell, let crime and drug use and homelessness escalate, then are shocked to find that those who can leave are doing just that. And the final straw appears to be standing by while "protesters" loot, burn, and attack. People have had enough. You think they don't pay their fair share but the bottom half of incomes pay very little. All those programs that you want are paid for by people with money. Who don't exist just to turn over everything to the state. If the state wants their money they have to insure their security. Otherwise they leave.

the state funds programs. it doesnt necessarily have to tax. do you think the state taxed to pay for the bailouts?

Individual states don't exist without taxes. Unlike the Federal government they don't have the ability to print money. And if all it took to keep everyone happy was to print money the Federal government would gladly do it. There are a number of reasons that won't work. Too much money in circulation devalues it and causes inflation. In spite of what your radical friends tell you they can't just print our troubles away. Not to mention if the government just gave us a paycheck where would be the incentive to work? Things would fall apart quickly. That is what is at the root of recent protests. There was a time when the government more or less paid people to stay home. This made a lot of working people angry and so there was welfare reform. So a lot of people who aren't prepared for anything else are stuck in jobs they hate in order to get assistance. If the government would just pay out they could stay home and relax.

Excuse me, it's up to each state to fund it's own programs and if they overspend it's not up to the Federal government to bail them out. And now with many high income taxpayers fleeing those states the fit is hitting the shan.
