I do not know the number of bonus centers around the country, but we have runner gunners here Who get 2 sometimes three hours of bonus every day paid at overtime. They probably made more in bonus that you make for the whole day.

This is the product of the smear campaign against unions that has been going on in this country since the mid 80s at least. It’s no coincidence that a large chunk of the population now view unions as evil, anti capitalistic institutions. Many people vote directly against their best interest for them and their families due to this.

There is a reason that blue collar workers in this country have seen wages severely eroded over the past decades and the systematic attack on unions by politicians and big business play a large part in this.

Go back and look at the 50s, 60s, and even into the 70s when half the working populace or more were union membership and it was actually possible to raise a family on a single income for much of those decades because of this.

Now, last I checked union membership is well under 10% in the US and now you basically must have dual incomes to support a family and many times that’s not even enough with how wage progression has completely stagnated.
