Only 5% of next car purchasers expect to buy all electric cars-Road and Track.

Billions of dollars and a lot of political will makethe insurmountable quite surmountable.

And full replacement of the ICE fleet would likely involve half the number of electrics, or even less. And we have a few decades to do it. Lots happens in that time frame.
In order for the world to be "saved" the whole world will have to turn away from oil. You can talk all you want but insurmountable in this case simply means there's not enough of what's needed to do what you want. While there is enough supply to build some electric cars knock yourself out with your next purchase.

It's not my opinion. You can avoid a mechanic for years and have a very low probability of any drama with an EV. The scheduled maintenance list is almost nothing.

Neglect an ice car and it dies fast.

These are not opinions.
Ok- as I said I'm glad you love yours. Would you work for me currently. To each their own. (Opinion).

It's really simple. Either we keep ICE engines because we find alternatives are impractical or if the data truly supports we're killing the planet with carbon based pollutants then laws will force us to accept a scaled down lifestyle that involves mass transportation. I think a lot of people will accept electric bicycles in good weather, ride the bus in bad weather. Or walk.
your right it is that simple.

but its not based on data. its based on whatever people demand through activism. if ppl dont demand the latter through activism, then we will get the former and a bunch of other things that dont actually work like electric cars for those who are rich.

A lot of serious people are studying every angle of this. You don't get your way by demanding everyone lives the way YOU want. It has to be data driven from research. What it can't be is a guise to scare people into submission. And getting us away from capitalism into socialism appears to be the real reason for using climate change as the boogie man that will give government complete control over our lives. Deception breeds rebellion. Move away from oil because the data unequivocally shows that oil will destroy life as we know it for future generations. Or keep oil because as it turns out leftists want to use climate change to compel us to accept socialism. Where's your proof?

the govts have the data and but their guided by other data namely profits or what their donor class demands.

the only way they wont do that is if we the people rise up in rebellion.

The people aren't going to rebel on what if's or maybes. They will rebel against their lives being actually affected as in mandates forcing them to comply with whatever.

maybe they will, maybe that wont. i will.

thats the beautiful thing about faith now isnt it: a few rebels on a mission with little hope of success and high likelihood of being crushed by the power forces they are against.

This is freaking LAUGHABLELOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Can't wait for the horrible accidents in which a human couldn't intervene if their life depended on it.....(which it will).
They will happen. For sure. And statistical idiots will crow how they were right. It's guaranteed.

It's still safer than you even after than happens.

Wow the ignorance....back at ya.

You an electrician?

Know a friend who replaced the batteries on his Prius....yeah they wear out.

I fill up my vehicle about every 4 days maybe 5....true but it gets twice the the range as most EV's. Don't have to go to Amazon or anything else and put on my house......again....apartment dwellers whatever.....lot's of those...gonna run an extension cord out of the 3rd story window?LOLOLOL. 99%.......how about convenience stores.....emphasizing the "convenience" part. They all have gas pumps....wonder why......

I'm not sure about average drivers. We live in a big wide open state. Lot's of commute time.

Yeah ok on what you know about EV maintenance.....they have bearings and all the rest. Cannot wait for you average Joe clowns to go poking around in those electrical bays.....cannot wait.

Like I phones....poof get another.....at $44k......LOLOLOL.

BTW, you make it sound like these cars will go into perpetuity....they will not. Especially when the charging systems become obsolete......and you think a flash update will keep you rolling.....see, you still fill up a model T the same way you did in 1908.
I've never seen someone who knew so little write so much.

US and north america is a corrupt :censored2: hole country.

you have pathetic levels of high speed trains. your public transit is a joke. electrification is probably pretty low. theres obviously little planning. all the signs point to my first statement.
You make me want to give up on life. You posts are so depressing.

Son, ease up on the self-attaboys. I am a certified Aircraft Mechanic A&P.

EV's haven't been around long enough to compile much longevity data....they change so much.

ANY complicated machine(and they are immensely complicated)(EV's)....(you do realize this...right?) will/does require maintenance and has failures.

Why do you think EV's are ......magical and don't follow the rules of physics and time/wear etc.? Yes, there will be EV junkyards...

You are so heavily invested in your liberal cause(a weakness of liberalism) that you are (with being kind) sounding silly(I'm not allowed anything more critical).

Say, where do you get your technical info? The numbers you make sweeping generalizations with? That EV's are virtually maintenance free? It's interesting, our EV pkg cars were a dismal failure and spend/spent most of their time parked on the fence.

I've never seen someone who knew so little, make such declarative statements....
